The holidays are over, but winter stretches on. Have you gone from a holiday high to a post-holiday slump? The snow, ice, and cold weather can become a trial to bear instead of a delight. By late January even winter enthusiasts may feel the season has lost its luster and look forward to spring. So what is the best way to beat the winter blues? We’ve compiled a list to keep you busy until the snow melts!

Nine Winter Activities to try in Newfound
Biking doesn't have to end when the snow flies. Fatbikes, or fat tire bikes, have wide tires that can easily maneuver over snow. Rent a fatbike from Rhino Bike Works or the Waterville Valley Adventure Center and check out the area's "fat tracks" .

Your favorite summer hikes can be just as much fun with snowshoes, or, try out a new trail!

Get a glimpse of animal activity in the winter through wildlife tracking. Do you have mystery tracks in your own backyard? Print out this handy animal track guide to see who has been through your neighborhood.

Ski
It's what Northern New England is known for, and the options are endless. You can tear down the slopes at Waterville Valley or try cross country skiing on the trails at AMC Cardigan Lodge . If you don't have your own set of skis you can rent all the gear you need from these three NLRA business members:

Looking for something more relaxing?

From authentic Mexican to Irish pub fare and artisan ales, Newfound knows food.

Look beyond the books and borrow a movie, a telescope, or a ukulele. Pick up free museum passes or attend the knitting group, poetry night, or mah jong. The Minot-Sleeper Library really does have something for everyone.

Are you a year-round resident? You don't have to be a tourist to appreciate local lodgings. Pack your overnight bag and enjoy Newfound as a visitor.

Newfound offers great retail therapy. Shop 'til you drop!
