"We Care" collection drive ends March 29...so donate today!
The Blue Star Mothers Collection Drive, orchestrated by SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee, ends this week. SPAAR members collect small items (snacks, magazines, toiletries, playing cards, colored pencils, sketch pads, etc.) for "We Care" packages sent to troops serving in active duty. If you still want to donate an item or more, SPAAR is collecting
items for "We Care" baskets through March 29, 2019. Learn more here.

VAREP Twin Cities Chapter announces motivational speaker and Veteran John Kriesel as gala keynote
Take part in the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) annual gala event that will feature keynote motivational speaker John Kriesel who, in 2006, was seriously injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq. Four hospitals, 35 surgeries, the loss of his legs and months of recovery followed, but the loss of his two close friends hurt the most. Following his near-death experience in Iraq, Kriesel returned to Minnesota and transitioned from military to civilian life. He will share his journey through story, humor and inspiration. Event proceeds will benefit local military families.

Mark your calendar to attend Cheers for Charity on April 16
SPAAR is now accepting scholarship applications

The Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) Charitable Foundation will grant up to five $2,000 scholarships to children or grandchildren of current, active SPAAR members this year; at least one scholarship may be designated for the child or grandchild of a SPAAR Affiliate Member. 

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, school activities, community service and a written essay.

Toastmasters provides an hour of professionalism and fun!
"I expected to gain some confidence in my public speaking ability, but I didn't expect it to be fun," said a Toastmasters participant at a recent meeting held at SPAAR.

Toastmasters is a great way to improve your speaking skills, gain leadership experience and learn how to efficiently run a meeting from start to finish. Worried about speaking in front of a group? To date, all participants have survived and thrived! 

 

Meetings take place the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 1-2pm at SPAAR's 325 Roselawn Avenue East location. Interested to learn more or join? If so, contact Jennifer at jkovacich@spaar.com. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. 
Volunteer at a community event!

Each year, SPAAR's Diversity Committee participates in community events to promote homeownership. State agency Minnesota Housing participates in many events all over the Twin Cities and across the state. These events provide opportunities for real estate professionals to answer general questions about homeownership, the property market, down payment assistance or the process of buying a home.
 
Volunteers are needed! Consider volunteering to help staff a community event and answer questions. You do not have to be a committee member to volunteer. This is a great opportunity for all REALTORS®, including those who are new in real estate.

Volunteers staff these events to represent SPAAR and answer general questions about homeownership. While these events are not occasions to market yourself or your brokerage, they are a great way to greet the public and polish your presentation skills. RPAC supports candidates who support REALTOR ® interests

The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) raises money to support candidates from the national, state and local levels who support REALTOR® Party issues. By doing this, RPAC ensures that programs important to REALTORS® continue to operate.

Cardinal hosts its 15th annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser
Back for its 15th year, Cardinal Realty, Homebuilders and Remodeling will hold its Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to support The American Cancer Society on Friday, April 26 from 4:30-7:30pm at Hope Church in Oakdale. Click here for more information.
