Dear Colleagues:

Census Day is just 12 months away and we are asking for your help in spreading the word.

The NYS Census Equity Fund, with production support from Kareem Alstom at the New York Foundation, produced the video included in this newsletter. Now we need your help to make it go viral.

Please consider joining the Census Day of Action on Monday, April 1st, and help spread the #EveryNewYorker campaign with your foundation board, your nonprofit partners, your Twitter and Facebook feeds, and through your other social channels you use to share good news about your work.

The NY Community Trust's communications team put together some highlights, and some sample Twitter posts for you to use, but feel free to make it your own. Remember to use #EveryNewYorker and link to the NYSCEF landing page.

We appreciate your help and support in making sure every New Yorker is counted in 2020.

To keep grantmakers up to date about the latest events, news, and resources for Census 2020, this bi-weekly newsletter is curated for you with support from the New York State Census Equity Fund.

The NYS Foundation community rallied and sent in over 70 videos to make the video you see above - click on it, watch it, and get prepared to forward it starting on Monday!

Our goal for sharing this video is two-fold:

  • Join the national effort to create awareness around the 2020 Census

  • Spread the word about the New York State Census Equity Fund and the important work the Fund is doing
 
Towards this end, we’ve put together sample posts for sharing the video. Of course feel free to write your own post, but if you do, please consider including 2 things unique to our group: the hashtag #EveryNewYorker and the link to our landing page: https://buff.ly/2Okdgy5 .
 
This will allow our team to track how viral our efforts go with our network's social media sharing, and encourage people to learn more about the fund!

For grantees looking to engage in census-related activities, refer them to   NY Counts 2020.   NY Counts 2020 is a coalition of nearly 100 diverse nonprofits/groups from across New York State developing a state-strategy focused on advocacy efforts, and providing information, resources and technical assistance as it relates to 'get out the count' measures to community-based organizations.
