DAAD Young Ambassadors Program

The DAAD Young Ambassadors Program is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and Master's students from North America who have recently studied or interned in Germany and are interested in promoting study in Germany at their home institutions.  Apply by April 15th, 2019.

German Studies Research Grant

This specialized DAAD program offers research grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany.  Apply by May 1st, 2019.

Short-Term Research Grant

Short-Term Research Grants are awarded for 1-6 months to highly qualified candidates who will have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree, by the time they begin their grant supported research, or to those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs).  Apply by May 1st, 2019.

Within the context of Wunderbar Together, a year-long festival that showcases the German-American partnership with events all around the USA, the German Embassy Washington is opening up its annual essay contest to students from Grades 3-12, with different topic questions according to grade level. Despite the fact that the overall number of students attending university in Germany is increasing, there is a trend of decreasing student enrollment outside of large cities and particularly in eastern Germany. By partnering with universities across Germany and supporting international students in their pursuit of higher education, DAAD continues to contribute to university enrollment and internationalization goals.
