2019 Health Expo & Career Fair

The Valley Economic Alliance and Los Angeles Valley College are hosting the  2019 Health Expo and Career Fair at Valley College's Student Union Plaza on Tuesday, April 23rd from 8:30am-12:30pm. 

The Health Expo promotes good nutrition, healthy eating and adopting an active lifestyle. The Expo offers free onsite health screenings such as blood pressure, BMI and HIV. Premier health providers and wellness based businesses will be onsite and offering resources, services, products and giveaways.

The Career Fair offers attendees and Valley College students the opportunity to meet and network with employers and explore a variety of career paths and industries.

Workers Compensation Threats & How to Defeat Them

The Valley Economic Alliance, ProHealth Occupation Medical Group, Kulchin Ross Insurance Services and Aryzta partnered to host "Surviving the Battlefield" on March 14th; a workshop to discuss workers compensation threats and ways to defeat them.  
Natasha Madarian, COO of ProHealth Medical Group and TVEA Boardmember discussed claims management, hiring trends and conducting pre-evaluations of the candidates per employer's needs. Natasha also shared  ProHealth's services including transporting employees from site of injury to their facility , physical therapy and after care.
 
Paul Palkovic, Insurance Broker with Kulchin Ross Insurance Services ad TVEA Boardmember discussed safety in the workplace and proper procedures and policies to have in order to  to mitigate an injury. Paul also shared innovative ideas to lower costs and how XMODs are impacted. 
Angel Guerra-Chagolla, Nation Risk Manager from Arytza shared claims and risk analysis strategies including the process of what happens after an injury has occurred in the workplace and proper follow up.  She also shared do's and don'ts of investigating claims.

TVEA's WCMP Presents at the 28th Latina History Day 

The 28th Latina History Day Conference, for which Latina History Day in California was created, drew nearly 1000 women to celebrate the historic accomplishments of Latinas and held forums on corporate advancement, current community issues, and financial empowerment on March 8th at the  Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. 
Gail Lara, Executive Director of the Women's Collaborative Mentoring Program (WCMP) at The Valley Economic Alliance (TVEA) moderated the " From Pitch to Success: Making Your Bold Ideas a Reality"  panel. Panelists included TVEA's Business Accelerator Program's alumni Sandra Ortiz,  Founder and CEO of Inspirational Leadership Group  and  Remy Meraz, Founder, CEO of Me Tyme Network, Inc. 
The workshop was designed for business owners, those with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a big idea to get off the ground. Structured like a mastermind session, business owners at different stages of growth spoke about challenges facing their business and a panel of experts in finance and business resources provided feedback on the specific challenge. 
The conference also offered resources, skills development and networking opportunities for career advancement.    

Keynote Speaker was Nely Galan author of New York Times bestseller  "Self Made." Nely inspired the house with her tips for building wealth through real estate and entrepreneurism. She is a self-made multimillionaire, and the first Latina President of Entertainment for a U.S. television network, Telemundo, an Emmy Award-winning producer of over 700 television shows in English and Spanish, and the founder of Adelante Movement to empower and train Latina and multicultural women entrepreneurs.

The City of Glendale hosted Glendale Mayor's Non-Profit Summit on March 8th at the Glendale Central Library. 

Non-profit organizations broke out into groups and discussed collaboration opportunities. 
Valley Presbyterian Hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their newly renovated emergency department on March 8th. 

Visitors were able to take a tour of the remodeled space, which includes increased capacity, upgraded infrastructure and an emphasis on specific needs for patients.
Downtown Glendale Association and the City of Glendale hosted their first ever International Women's Day on March 8th at CBRE.
