As you look forward to starting your new-school adventure, you will be receiving a lot of information. One of the most important procedures at Dorchester School is the safe, secure dismissal of our students. We currently use PikMyKid, an app that is designed to track students as they are dismissed from the classroom through their pickup by parents, guardians, or another designated person.
We currently offer five primary modes of pickup:
- Car Line 1 - student dismissed to car on lower level with staff member assistance. For families with their youngest child in K, 1st, 4th, or 5th grade
- Car Line 2 - student dismissed to car on upper level with staff member assistance. For families with their youngest child in 2nd or 3rd grade
- Bus - if eligible
- After-the-Bell - if registered
- Walker/Biker - student dismissed with no supervision beyond school doors. This option is for students who will walk/bike home on their own or meet their parent/guardian on or near our campus.
You will be receiving an e-mail tomorrow with additional details including a survey for indicating your choice for your child's default dismissal. The default dismissal should be your child's most frequent mode of dismissal. For example, if your child attends After-the-Bell 3 times a week and you pick up on the car line the other 2, ATB will be your default. As we approach the school year, we will provide more information on how to make daily changes. If you have any questions regarding PikMyKid, you may reach out to Mrs. Carabetta ([email protected] or 201-930-5600 ext. 100).
For your assistance in understanding this process, the below link provides helpful information provided by PikMyKid.
Note that you will not be able to register in the app until all new students have been entered into the system. We will notify you when this becomes available.
Sincerely,
Stefanie Marsich
