Join the Pediatric Trials Network (PTN) at PAS Meeting 2019 for:
Clinical Research in the Pediatric Population: A Network Perspective
...an overview of lessons learned, contributions to child health, and its unique perspectives as a network of more than 100 pediatric clinical research sites across the globe.
Sponsored by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the PTN collaborates in the design and conduct of clinical trials to provide evidence for optimal dosing of commonly used medications in infants and children.
The symposium begins with a reception, followed by:
A Brief Overview of the PTN and the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act (BPCA), which aims to encourage the pharmaceutical industry to perform pediatric studies to improve labeling for medical products used in children. Speakers: Perdita Taylor-Zapata, MD, Pediatric Medical Officer at the NICHD; Kanecia Zimmerman, MD, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Duke University School of Medicine
Real World Applications / PTN in Clinical Practice will provide real-world applications of PTN’s work and discuss the impact of clinical research in practice. Speakers: Matthew Laughon, MD, MPH, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Kelly Wade, MD, PhD, MSCE, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Caregiver / Participant Engagement will engage parent and adolescent participants in the International Children’s Advisory Network (iCAN) in a panel discussion on how researchers can better engage with participants and caregivers.
Partnering Opportunities / Working Within and Across Networks will spotlight partnering opportunities and work being done within and across research networks. Speaker: Janice Sullivan, MD, University of Louisville
The symposium will conclude with a discussion of future opportunities for the PTN and pediatric research by Perdita Taylor-Zapata.
