Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day
Coming June 23

Our 34th annual Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day is coming! We are excited to get back on track and hope you are ready for free breakfast, community connections with other bicyclists and businesses that support bicycling, and a great all around morning exploring Fort Collins by bicycle!

This year, BT(W)D features around 50 free, public breakfast stations for cyclists. Some stations will also host lunch time opportunities, and we’ll keep you posted on post-work and afternoon stations. Later in
June, we’ll post these details and our official Breakfast Station Map on our website.

Why is it Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day? We recognize that to many in our community, “work” means something different than it did just months ago. The way we interact with one another and work in general has changed for many, and we want to ensure that our event is inclusive and welcoming. Regardless, if you work later in the day, work from home that day, have the day off, are retired, or are in school, we hope you’ll get your bike out and ride around Fort Collins with thousands of other community members that value active, sustainable transportation. During lunch or after work, you can find additional other ways to celebrate one of Fort Collins’ favorite holidays.

Come ride with us!
City Park Ave. Improvements
In early summer 2021, the City’s Streets Department will resurface and restripe City Park Ave. and Bennett Rd. south of W. Elizabeth St. The new striping pattern will introduce bike lanes to the corridor where currently bike lanes are missing or substandard, as recommended by the 2014 Bicycle Master Plan.

Some on-street parking will be removed on the east side of City Park Ave. south of W. Elizabeth St., and the design will set the stage for a future possible protected intersection at City Park Ave. and W. Elizabeth St. As part of the W. Elizabeth Enhanced Travel Corridor Plan.

No Memorial Day Transfort Service
In honor of Memorial Day, Transfort will observe the following closures on Monday, May 31:

  • NO Transfort bus service

  • Transit Centers and Customer Support offices closed

Please plan ahead when riding Transfort. When viewing schedules online, click the 'exceptions' tab on the timetables to see modified service times. Buses are limited to half (50%) of seated capacity per state guidance
Things Are Getting Back to Normal for Safe Routes to School
Kids in Fort Collins are back to in-person instruction, and they are eager as ever to bike and walk to school. National Bike to School Day on May 5th saw thousands of FoCo kids using active modes to get to school. Zach Elementary logged a whopping 72% of its student population – 410 students – who biked/walked/scootered to school!

The purpose of the ATP is to improve active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian) planning across the region and address the NFRMPO’s responsibility for including active transportation as a component of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). All comments on the ATP should be provided to Ryan Dusil at rdusil@nfrmpo.org by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021.
Shift Your Ride Focus Group Results
This past spring, the City in collaboration with Larimer County’s Built Environment program conducted a series of four focus group sessions with north Fort Collins residents. We will be spending time this summer compiling results from the focus groups to share more specific information, which include some of the following:

  • Ideas for a Spanish version of our Shift Your Ride campaign.
  • Community recommendations for transportation programming which we will roll out in September.
  • Recommendations and ideas for future infrastructure improvements.
  • Ways to improve information about transit, bicycling, and walking, and much more.

Thank you to all our focus group participants! We hope this approach is one way we can show the Fort Collins community we’re listening and working to improve conditions and access in our community, especially for our historically marginalized neighbors. We also hope to continue doing a better job listening to the priorities of our community.

Stay tuned for more information on our adapted Shift Your Ride campaign, and in the meantime, visit our Shift Your Ride website for tips and tricks to get out of your car more often and onto active, sustainable transportation modes at www.fcgov.com/SYR.
