William P. Faust Public Library Hosts A Frozen Winter Festival - on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., located at 6123 Central City Parkway, in meeting rooms A and B.  Join in the magic and excitement!  A royal good time will be had by all!  The Frozen princesses are traveling all the way from Arendelle to Westland!  The children will love meeting the princesses!  This magical event will include photos and hugs, singing, dancing and crafts.  Don't forget to bring your camera.  Registration is required, please call 734-326-6123 ext. 2831.

Westland's Annual MLK Day Freedom Walk and Ceremony  on  Monday, January 20, 2020.   Participants are asked to gather at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road or the Westland Library, located at 6123 Central City Parkway beginning at 8:30 a.m.  From City Hall, weather permitting, participants will be shuttled to the Westland Public Library for the Annual Freedom Walk, which will begin at 9:00 a.m.  The Freedom Walk will honor those who marched with Dr. King over 50 years ago.  The short walk will end at Westland City Hall, where participants who parked at the library can be shuttled back to their vehicles after the ceremony. Be sure to check facebook, twitter, WLND and  www.cityofwestland.com   as any cancellation of the freedom walk due to weather will be announced at 8:00 a.m.  City Hall doors will open beginning at 8:30 a.m.  The ceremony, which begins at 10:00 a.m., will include uplifting messages from Mayor Wild and other state and local elected officials.

City Offices Closed in Observance of MLK Day - on Monday, January 20, 2020.  City Offices will be closed in observance on MLK Day.  This includes the 18th District Court and the Westland Public Library.  Trash pick up will not be affected.

Mike Modano Ice Arena - will be having Open Skate on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:20 p.m. admission is $3.00 and skate rental is $2.00.  The Mike Modano Ice Arena is located at 6210 N. Wildwood.

The Distinguished Young Women Program - will be holding an informational meeting on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.  This will take place at 32807 Manor Park Drive, Garden City.  Distinguished Young Women  of Wayne /  Westland  is part of a national scholarship  program  that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in  young women .
