LIMITED ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
We are excited to share that the Humane Society of El Paso is, once again, open for adoptions – but by appointment only .

Right now, we’re focusing on adopting out puppies, kittens, adult cats, and some of our special needs animals who have been living with our Foster Families during the COVID-19 crisis. Our first phase of reopening over the past three weeks has resulted in over 100 animals finding their forever homes! We hope to continue this momentum and save more lives within the upcoming weeks.

If you are interested in scheduling an adoption appointment, please visit and review our guidelines https://hselpaso.org/news-and-updates/adoptions
OUR NEW RIDE AT THE HSEP
Day in and day out we are reminded of people’s generosity and the good Samaritans in our community. The Humane Society of El Paso is grateful to have a family of five volunteers that come in every week and dedicate four hours of their time to the up-keep of our facility, no matter rain or shine.

HSEP has been in need of a riding lawn mower to help maintain grounds that consist of several grassy walk areas and a large play area to provide physical enrichment for our furry residents, also known as the “Field of Dreams”.

Once our outstanding family of five heard about this they quickly started working together to eventually raise enough funds to upgrade the shelter lawn mower. Their efforts have helped ease the work load of maintaining the facility in tip top shape while lending more time for them to do what they love!
HSEP's very first PAW-casso art contest took place over Spring Break in lieu of the seasonal Tall Tales Reading Program. The contest was created in hopes of inspiring El Paso youth to exercise their talents and tap into their creativity. We have to say that all the the responses we received blew us away! Out of the 50 entries received, our Facebook followers chose the winners by voting for their favorites in each category.

We would like to thank all of our participants and give a big PAWS-UP to our 2020 Paw-casso Winners!

Humane Society of El Paso Receives a Generous Gift
From the Estate of Judy Paulsen
Judy Paulsen , a resident of Corrales, NM, passed away in February 2020. Judy gave all of her energy and time over the past 30 years to the Greyhound Companions of New Mexico. She was also a very loyal and steadfast advocate for Project Coyote over the past several years. Judy also went to great lengths to rescue and save Greyhounds and other abused and abandoned dogs all over the USA.

“Judy was dedicated to greyhound rescue. She founded  Greyhound Companions of New Mexico  and worked tirelessly for 30+ years to rescue greyhounds off the race track and to place them in loving homes. She spoke out vociferously against greyhound coursing, the unconscionable practice of setting greyhounds on wild prey including coyotes and foxes. Judy was featured in a  New York Times article  that describes the brutality of coursing—not only to the greyhounds, but also to the coyotes they were trained to pursue. She has uniquely and compellingly made the link between abuse of both species at numerous venues, often with her beloved greyhound rescue Rowdy by her side…” said Camilla Fox, Executive Director, Project Coyote.

We are honored to have received this bequest and extend our gratitude to Judy’s family. This gift helps ensure that the vital programs of the Humane Society of El Paso will be here to meet the needs of our shelter and community animals.

Pets Barn has been a long-standing supporter of animal health and welfare groups in El Paso.

The Humane Society is grateful to Dean Travis and Pet's Barn for joining HSEP in caring for our shelter animals.
After 8 months of being at the shelter our hopeful Bachelor, Jaxin has found his match!

Congratulations Jaxin on your new home, your friends from HSEP wish you the best.
