November 1st 2020

We'd love for you to join us!

We would be pleased if you joined us in person or online from the comfort of your home for church services via Facebook Live at 9:30am.

Here is a PDF of this Sunday's bulletin for you to enjoy.
From Father Kim:

Dear All,

We want to remind you that we are creating an Altar frontal for use on All Saints Sunday and the Sunday thereafter.
On it we will place the names of our dear departed loved ones! If not for Covid, we would ask individuals to place the names themselves but this year we cannot.

Please send us the names of your departed loved ones by Thursday so we can add them!

You may email me at rector@stjamesmillcreek.comcastbiz.net

This frontal will help us each year to remember our loved ones on this special Feast day.

ALSO – a reminder – Face masks on Sunday morning MUST be of the approved types!!
  • No scarfs or masks with valves!!

Peace,
Kim
Don't forget to set back your clocks!

Fun facts about daylight savings.

1. Ben Franklin was an early advocate of changing the clocks.
2. It happens at different times in different countries.
3. Candy makers and the barbecue industry enjoy it.
4. Arizona and Hawaii don't participate.

Fellow Parishioners,

Your Rector Search Committee is hard at work on the process of selecting a new rector for St. James’.  As you are aware, we have decided to use Holy Cow! Consulting’s Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) to help plan our future. It is an important survey of our parishioners, the heart of our church.
You will soon be receiving your Survey. If you have not verified your contact information with a member of the Vestry, please contact the church office immediately (302-994-1584). We need accurate contact information to ensure you receive a Survey. You do not want to miss this opportunity to contribute to the future of St. James’ Mill Creek.
·        The CAT Survey is on-line. If we have your current email address, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to the Survey.
·        IMPORTANT: It is vital that you READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS prior to starting the survey.
·        If you do not have e-mail, don’t worry, you will be mailed a paper Survey. You must complete the Survey and mail it back to the church, no later than November 23, 2020. A stamped, self-addressed envelope will be enclosed with your Survey.
·        The completion date for all Surveys is no later than November 23, 2020.
·        Information provided by the Survey will be used by the Search Committee to create a church/parish profile and job description that will be:
o  viewed by interested candidates, and
o  a tool for interviewing and selecting candidates.
Thank you for your support and completing the Survey. Again, it is an important part of our search for a new rector and the future of St. James’ Mill Creek.
Alleluia,
Your Rector Search Committee
From Cindy Fauerbach:

The St. James prayer team will be holding a ZOOM meeting at 11:30 am on Sunday. Request for prayers please email Sister BJ at sisterbjbrown@gmail.com or if you'd like to join us please let us know.

We would also like to give many thanks to the youth for helping with making Halloween treat bags for guests at Emmanuel Dining Room. They're still not able to eat inside due to COVID-19 restrictions. They have to line up outside of the dining room and take their meals with them. They enjoy the little things and this was a special treat for them. Thank you St. James Church for your continued support of Emmanuel Dining Room ministry.

A note from your Wardens about attending church in person
  • Your safety is our top priority.
  • No one should feel obligated to attend church in person. If you are not comfortable being around others, it is okay to stay at home.

A Prayer for the Feast of All Saints

Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
