March could be a lucky month for you. We are doing "Spin the Wheel" for reduced adoption fees on all adult cats. And senior cats may be adopted for $40. Please come in and visit our community of cats....spring is a wonderful time to bring a new furry family member into the home!

Drag Queen Bingo
with the Denver Cycle Sluts

Please mark your calendar for this Friday evening, March 8, at Dulce Vida where the Denver Cycle Sluts are hosting a bingo fundraiser to support Cat Care Society. All the donations, bingo fees, and tips go directly to Cat Care to benefit our kitties. The event raised $1600 last year, and we have a goal of $2000 for this year.
When: March 8, 2019 Games start at 8pm and seating begins at 6:30pm
Where: Dulce Vida-1201 Cherokee St. Denver, 80204
What to bring: $$$...$10 to play 8 games, plus chance drawing tickets - $1.00 each for raffle gift basket. Tips are much appreciated too.
Food and drinks are available to purchase and enjoy during the evening.
The event sold out last year, so if you have a large group of participants, it's a good idea to call for reservations. Call Dulce Vida at 303-954-8665 and ask for Joe. We hope to see you there!

February was another very exciting month of adoptions: we found homes for 51 cats last month! We are so happy with this upward trend and that our mission is becoming more successful all the time....helping the many neglected, homeless, and abused cats in the community.
We had two very special adoptions recently...Peaches, an 8 year old with food allergies, and Gabby, a 16 year old with kidney issues. It's wonderful when special needs kitties find loving homes and people to care for them.

Catty Hour

Our next Catty Hour is scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, from 6 to 8 PM at the shelter. Whether you need to unwind after the week, or just love cuddling and playing with cats, it's a perfect event for you. This is an adults only evening, and donations are appreciated. Roaring and Purring in Cats

Ever wonder why big cats roar and smaller cats purr? Well, somewhere in the evolutionary process, a physical difference occured in the voice box. In big cats such as lions, tigers, and cheetahs, the triangular bone around the vocal chords is flexible allowing for more expansion and stretch than in smaller cats. This greater range of movement is what produces the long, deep vibration of a roar. In smaller animals, like our cat friends, the bone is rigid and the vocal chords are more contained resulting in the purr that we all love to hear. Additionally, scientists have studied the purr of cats through the years and have discovered that the purr not only signals happiness, but can also be heard when a cat is in distress or pain. The vibration of the purr actually has self-healing qualities. The rhythm causes the body's connective tissue to open, moving more oxygen through the blood, more antibodies to a wound, and more pain reducing enzymes and hormones.

Yoga with the Cats

Join our limber kitties for Yoga with the Cats on Sunday, March 24th, from 4 to 5PM at the shelter. Whether you are experienced or a beginner, this will be an enjoyable class. Water and music are provided, and the class is led by a certified instructor. The fee is $20, and all of that benefits our cats.

Fostering Seminar

Rianda Copeland, our Medical Care Director, will give a broad overview of our foster program, and all that it provides to the cats in foster care. This is a valuable class for volunteers who are already foster parents, and very informative for those who might be interested in fostering cats. There will be plenty of time for Q & A as well. With kitten season approaching, and numerous adult cats who would benefit from this care, we are in need of good people. Click here to read about our foster program.

Jackie, a lovely five and a half year old kitty, is our featured cat this time.
She was first brought in as a stray and was a mom to 5 babies. She turned out to be very cranky in the shelter environment and we knew she needed to be the only cat in the home. Jackie was adopted, but was brought back by the owner after she had been fighting with the neighbor's cat. We discovered that the owner had been letting her go outside, and she was injured during one of the fights. Jackie had her wounds bandaged and was put on heavy antibiotics due to infection, but has made a full recovery and is now very loving towards people. She still does not like other cats and would prefer to remain the only feline in the home.

As of December, 2018 we have raised $62,794 of revenue to support our cats and mission. We are averaging about $1,000
of income each month.

Our catios have been enhanced with the addition of many elevated outdoor perches for the cats. Stop by and see the cats enjoy them!

Even though February is past, we still have a few cat valentines available for a $25 donation.

We also have several valentine goody bags left and they may be purchased for $20. Valentines and goody bags are both available at the shelter.
