MARCH 16th - CHILDERSBURG
ABCS Cyclist,

RESTORATION RIDE - THE FINALE!

We are so looking forward to the kickoff of the 2019 Alabama Backroads Century Series! And, what a way to start the season...in it's final year, the Restoration Ride is a wonderfully laid-back event with Headquarters at the very location that is supported by your registration fees . Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, the Kymulga Grist Mill, Covered Bridge and Park is a unique and special place. Plan to explore it's natural beauty, learn about it's history and see the exciting changes taking place.
Kymulga bridge in Childersburg in Talladega County boasts a 105-foot span built in 1861over Talladega Creek. Restored in 1974 with improvements occurring now at the Grist Mill because of your support.
FOOD, FOOD, AND MORE FOOD!

ACCOMMODATIONS

Those wishing to book rooms MUST call the Host Hotel,  Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Sylacauga and specifically mention RESTORATION RIDE in order to receive the special rate of 99.00 for standard rooms and 109.00 for suites. Here's the link: https://tinyurl.com/yc7lbtd4 and phone: 256-207-1511

CAMPING

Camping is available on site at the  Kymulga Grist Mill.
Primitive campers just need to show up since there are plenty of those sites. For RV sites (30 amp) call Ron Smith, mill care taker, at 256-249-7769 and reserve. Both 50 amp spaces are already reserved.
The championship disk golf course is completed for those wishing to play before or after the ride. Canoe rentals, 5 miles of hiking trails, and mill tours are also available.
The ABCS Ride Directors are concerned about your safety and ask that you review and abide by the ABCS GUERRERO SAFETY PLEDGE . Having your rider bib on with the numbers visible helps us keep you safe on the road. It tells us you are our rider and communicates where you are on the course to rest stops and the finish line so we are prepared for you. If you have a serious accident and are separated from your bike, it will identify you and help us get your family notified quickly if you can't speak.
ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR THEIR BIB NUMBERS.
Best for us if you wear on your back and thank you!

LET'S MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ALABAMA!
Alabama Legislators start back in session on March 6th and recently introduced legislation to ban holding a phone while driving, based on the law in Georgia. Join the League of American Bicyclists and the Montgomery Bicycle Club in asking your representatives to combat distracted driving by supporting this legislation. The form automatically finds your state senator and state representative. There is a pre-filled letter that you can customize, edit, etc. It is super easy and it includes all the info about the 2 bills.

As always, we ask you to send your business to our supporting sponsors.
