The city has seen a very positive response to its bike share program since it was launched nine months ago.
9,000 unique riders
have taken
43,000 trips
with an average length of 9 minutes.
Not surprisingly, the
train station
is by far the most popular start and end point for bike share trips, although other popular destinations include White Plains Hospital and Mamaroneck Avenue. The local Lime operations team is in the city daily to re-balance the bikes in order to ensure safety and reliability.
This spring, Lime will introduce Pedal-Assist bikes to their White Plains fleet. These bikes have a battery pack in the back that provides the rider with a small boost, or pedal-assist, making riding even easier (especially in hilly areas). Their maximum speed is 14.8 mph. A portion of the current fleet will be replaced by
Pedal-Assist bikes starting in April.
Pedal-Assist bikes have been enormously popular everywhere they’ve been introduced and we are excited to bring them to White Plains!
