21 Ways to Be Kind To Our Mental Health

Research  indicates that those who consistently help other people experience less depression, greater calm, fewer pains and better health. They may even live longer.  Practicing acts of kindness may seem like little things, but they will go a long way to making sure that you and your peers feel better about their lives and more hopeful about their futures.

Overdose Reversal Toolkit

The new  Overdose Reversal Toolkit  has been released to empower patients, families and communities to come together and turn the tides of this deadly epidemic. This free resource contains training videos on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose, information about how to administer naloxone, harm reduction education, resources and further reading.

Peer Support to Address Depression at Work

Depression costs over $51 billion in absenteeism and lost productivity at work in the United States and, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is the leading cause of disability worldwide.[ 1][ 2] Both in a business sense and a human sense, many of our workplaces are failing to promote wellbeing and support people living with depression.
Despite limited supports, people living with depression and other mental health conditions can and do succeed in the workplace. But, as the rates of depression continue to grow, it is clear new approaches are necessary to support and maintain an engaged, healthy workforce.

SAMHSA Webinar TOMORROW:

Assessing Workforce Readiness To Provide Comprehensive Suicide Care

Tuesday, September 18, 2018 |  1 - 2:30  p.m. Eastern Time
The presence of a competent, confident, and well-trained workforce at every level of care is critical to individuals at risk for suicide. Data from more than 15,000 health and behavioral health care staff who utilized an online  Zero Suicide Workforce Survey  indicate that, among those who interact with patients or clients, only half had received training in suicide screening or risk assessment, and only one-third felt strongly that they had the knowledge, skill, confidence, and comfort in providing care for individuals at risk for suicide.
Join SAMHSA for a webinar that presents the results from the Zero Suicide Workforce Survey, and learn about establishing a culture where staff training is a critical and ongoing part of providing care.
