.....Fondren will observe Neighbor's Night Out on the evening of August 3 to strengthen our neighborhoods and take a stand against crime.

.....Now is the time to pull together your planning committee and determine how your street wants to observe Fondren's Neighbors Night Out - a pot luck, a cocktail party, a movie night - what ever kind of event best fits your street.

.....Use the link below to register your street for Fondren's Neighbors Night Out and provide a key contact for your street. Please respond by July 18.

..... Work on Meadowbrook Road is expected to clear state and federal approvals soon with authority to advertise for contractors in August.

.....However, the bulk of the construction work is not expected to take place until Spring of 2022.

....."This is not a quick project," noted Robert Lee, engineer with the city's Public Works Department.

.....Preliminary work could start as early as November.

.....After three years of no through traffic on Hawthorn Drive, work has begun to replace the bridge over Eubanks Creek in the 300 block.

.....Hemphill Construction has the contract to complete the bridge replacement work.

I'll never forget the afternoon of March 20, 2020.

A group of local restauranteurs gathered to discuss the new reality and what their future might look like with no revenue during a mandatory shelter-in-place order.

Those in attendance had just closed the doors of businesses they had spent decades building and wondered when, or if, they may ever reopen.

.....Even more difficult, most had just delivered the news to their entire staff of loyal employees that they would no longer be able to provide a paycheck without revenue in the coming weeks. That dat, I saw my mentors, the pillars of the Mississippi food service industry, with heads in hands wondering if they would lose everything.

.....As co-owner of Brent's Drugs, the pandemic hit hard. I am incredibly proud of the resurgence of Fondren and the role that Brent's has played in their renaissance. Our restaurant is a great place for my neighbors to celebrate birthdays, meet friends after church or grab a milkshake on a hot summer day. It is also a place that provides employment to 25 Jacksonians.

.....Thanks to our Presenting Sponsor BankPlus, Symphony at Sunset will return to the grounds of The Cedars on September 16.

.....Volunteers are needed to help plan this year's event, according to event chair, Britney Moss, event chair. The committee will begin meeting in mid-July.
