Come, Holy Spirit,
as in a new Pentecost,
for our need is great.
You are Comforter:
be with those who mourn the loss of loved ones.
You are Advocate:
be the defense of the poor and the afflicted.
Pour forth your gifts of wisdom and fortitude
on medical personnel and scientists
as they continue their healing work.
Grant understanding and counsel to our leaders,
that their decisions
may serve the common good.
Renew your presence in us,
that our fear and isolation may fade,
and hope be reborn in each of us.

The Bishops of Washington State have expressed their support and encouragement for gathering signatures for Referendum 90 (R-90).
R-90 is a referendum to reject or approve a new law requiring all state school districts to provide Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSHE) for grades kindergarten through 12. Formerly Senate Bill 5395, this law was passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Inslee on March 27, 2020. Signatures are being collected now to put R-90 on the state’s fall ballot.
Organizers would ideally like to complete signature collection by June 1, 2020. The deadline for filing collected signatures in support of R-90 is June 10, 2020.

Hope in Solidarity: The Catholic Response to Immigration Practices and Policies in the US
The 4th Annual
Catholic Immigration Summit
has moved online! We’ve collected videos from leaders in local organizations to help our community learn more about the challenges facing immigrant communities by exploring topics such as advocacy, DACA, spiritual practice & resilience, mental health, legal assistance and more. The summit runs May 15-June 15, and new content will be added throughout that time.

St. James Cathedral Immigrant Assistance
helps people from all over the world. During this time, for those immigrants in our ESL and citizenship tutoring, we want to make doubly sure that they know we are here for them. Towards that end, we are looking for people who are fluent in various languages to help out by making monthly check-in phone calls to see how they are doing. We currently need people fluent in Cambodian, Laotian, or Portuguese to call 1 or 2 people each. These calls are informal, personal, and usually quite short.
