Additional Safeguards Issued to Protect Michigan WorkersAs many manufacturers have resumed and ramped up production in the last week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer today issued yet another set of workplace safety requirements for in-person operations in Executive Order 2020-97. In addition to the requirements put in place on Monday, the new order also requires that employees with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 can only return to the workplace after they are no longer infectious as directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, while the Governor cautioned that she may extend the “Stay Safe, Stay Home” order which is set to expire a week from today, she did continue the gradual reopening of Michigan’s economy by permitting additional car sales and retail activities and greenlighting non-essential medical, dental and veterinary procedures to resume 5/28/20 with Executive Order 2020-96. MMA continues to work closely with the Administration and legislative leaders as restrictions are lifted and additional regulations are put in place.
