Week 19 -  December 12th, 2018
AHS Holiday "Boost" Gift Card Drive
Ends This Friday, Dec 14th  //  Drop off in AHS Office

During this holiday season many of our Arcadia families struggle with basic needs, such as food.  We would like to assist our under served families by helping them with $25 gift cards to local grocery stores, such as, Target, Walmart, Fry's, Food City and Safeway.

Sonia Otero-Hanley, Arcadia Community Specialist, will assess family needs and distribute.  Questions, please contact  sotero-hanley@susd.org.  Thank you for your generosity and making this holiday season brighter!

Teen Lifeline Resource Fair
December 14th during lunch
While this time of year is often very bright and cheery for most, it is not always the case for everyone.  In an attempt to prepare all students and their families for finals and the upcoming break, Arcadia High School will be hosting its second resource fair on December 14 during lunch! This event is organized by Teen Lifeline, but will include several different agencies around the valley including Banner Behavioral Health, Aurora Behavioral Health, Crisis Response, Glsen, and many others!

The purpose of this event is to offer information and resources to both students and parents at Arcadia to insure a safe and happy holiday season for all. It will be a great opportunity to learn more and ask questions regarding mental health, substance abuse concerns, and teen suicide awareness. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Mandy Turner, the school social worker.

All of the classes were electives students can sign up for at Arcadia when they select their classes for next year in January. Biotech, Arcadia News Network, Arcadia Dance, CMAS (music production) Theater Tech and Freshman 101 taught by former ECS student, Luke Nolen.

Unitown Tax Credit Donation
Please consider donating Tax Credit donations to Unitown this year! Unitown is designed to bring about greater appreciation of the similarities of people regardless of their diversities of race, creed, abilities or any other differences they may have. In addition to learning to look at another person's viewpoint, participants in Unitown are breaking down racial and cultural myths. The Unitown experience will prepare students to make wise decisions and become campus and community leaders and role models. Many students that are selected for Unitown have difficulty in paying for this amazing experience, and your tax dollars can make that happen. Thank you for your support.
