Dear Parents and Guardians of St. Francis of Assisi School,

During Palm Sunday's reading, Jesus asks, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Perhaps in these past few weeks, you have felt some sort of loneliness or possibly even abandonment.  The uncertainty of this pandemic has certainly left many of us feeling sad, worried, mad, defeated, and maybe even hopeless. While praying at the Garden of Gethsemane, surrounded by His closest friends, we know Jesus also felt agony.  Yet as Catholics, we know that the story did not end with Gethsemane nor with Jesus' suffering on Calvary with the crucifixion. We too know that our story does not end with this pandemic. As people of faith, we believe that we will come out stronger through all of this.  While this may be a very trying moment in time, it is just that - a moment. We know that God did not abandon His son, nor will He abandon us.

As we approach our Holy Triduum, we want to encourage everyone to reflect on how we can live out these final days of the Lenten Season.  Our prayer is that during these three days of reflection, you are able to:
  • fast from negativity or fear
  • find nourishment through the Word of God or a drive thru the SFA Stations of the Cross
  • make preparation for the Lord to reside in your heart and home in an even greater way during the Easter Season.
Now more than ever, we eagerly await the promise of new life through Jesus' resurrection.

In the final days of Holy week, let us remember that we walk with Jesus.  No matter the personal sadness, grief, or worry you may have felt over these past few weeks, please know you are not alone.  St Francis of Assisi School is here for our students, our families, and our entire community.

May we stay the course and have deep faith that we as a community will rise up!

Family Service Projects
During this time we thought it would be fun for families to focus on a service project together while practicing safe social distancing.  We will be sharing ideas you can do at home as a family that will impact our local community.

It's Time to Support Our Community!
By now we are all tired of cooking! If you want to get grab and go, easy meals for your family this is the time to support the SFA families and friends that have always been so supportive of SFA.

Below are all of the family owned restaurants that have always taken the time to support SFA!

Catholic Identity Ministry
Pray with us this Friday evening...!

The Way of the Cross is a powerful prayer that we can all do from our homes, even though we traditionally gather at church to pray this way.

Attached are two versions - a young reader version and one more suitable for 4th grade and up. Please take some time this Friday night to pray the Way of the Cross together.

Also included are a set of coloring pages that we purchased for our Catholic Identity Ministry event. If your child wants to color one of the mosaics, please post it online and tag us so we can see how we are all united in this time of prayer and patience...people with such faith watched on as our Savior was crucified and died, not knowing that the resurrection would happen on that Friday we now know as Good Friday... may we surrender ourselves in this time of unknowing to the resurrection that is to come in God's great providence!

Live Out Lent

Bishop Vann has invited the local Catholic community to join together in sharing moments for reflection, contemplation and witness.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School is participating with 40 other schools to share in the Lenten journey.

You can follow along with this journey here.
