CEO's Blog:
CSL Doubles Down on Workforce Development
Robots and robotics are everywhere. Just in the last few years, it's become hard to not hear the phrase AI (Artificial Intelligence) at least a few times a day. In fact, there's a website that assesses the likelihood that a robot will take your job. While that's kind of a funny thing to think about, it's really a scary proposition.

Most families that come to CSL have earned income through work. However, the jobs they have are not sufficient to sustain a family, let alone using work as a tool to build wealth and assets. CSL is very committed to our work...

CSL Part of $10 Million National Grant
An exciting new commitment from the Citi Foundation will ramp up LISC's Bridges to Career Opportunities (BCO) program and help some 10,000 American workers get the training and support they need to take on quality jobs in growth industries like health care. CSL operates LISC's BCO programming in Kansas City, and is the only grant recipient in the metro area.

The funding will enable 40 community organizations, including CSL, across the country to intensify their Bridges work, connecting residents to skills development and jobs, along with financial, health and housing services that improve quality of life.

Meet Some New CSL Volunteers!
Tom & Becky Clark - CSL Volunteers
Tom and Becky Clark were sitting at home on one of the many snow days of the season when Becky happened to see a Facebook post calling for volunteers at CSL's Noland Road food pantry.

While Tom and Becky have been longtime residents of Independence, they were not familiar with CSL, nor our work. But, they were definitely interested in learning more and getting involved as a way to give back to their community. So they came on in and talked with our team and just last week, worked their very first shift helping our neighbors in the food pantry and they loved it!

They especially enjoy meeting our neighbors and feel like they are making a difference, even if it's simply a kind word or a smile. When asked what they would say to others who are considering volunteering, Tom and Becky replied, "Just do it! Come out and try it. Volunteering for CSL is truly rewarding."
Monthly Giving. Monthly Good.
The 1916 Club is CSL's monthly giving program that allows supporters to make make sustained gifts through monthly credit card charges or checking/savings account withdrawals.

In 1916, a group of 22 forward-thinking women founded CSL as a way to support children and families in need in our community. More than 103 years later, members of the 1916 Club share the same vision and provide monthly support to ensure that the mission of CSL is met every day.

By joining the 1916 Club, you can be assured that you're doing your part to make our Eastern Jackson County community a better place to live by providing resources for families to achieve economic stability.
