Post'l Point Reef Completed!
Thanks to Eglin AFB, hundreds of volunteers, and an $8,000 gift from Corvias, CBA has finished a 1400 linear foot shoreline and breakwater along Post'l Point.

Teams from across Eglin competed in the first CBA reef building competition, including:
Corvias, the Rapid Engineer Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers, the Hurlburt Honor Guard, Jackson Guard, the Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight, 73 rd Special Operations Squadron, the 11 th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron, and the 1 st Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

Jackson Guard came in first place , building seven reef sections in four hours. They have won a brewery tour at Grayton Beer Company!

Additionally, volunteers won a bottle of Bru t Rosé fr om 30A Coastal Dune Wines, a bottle of Chardonnay from 30A Coastal Dune Wine s, a growler from 3rd Planet Brewery in Niceville, a gift certificate to Pizza by the Sea , and two CBA prize packs.

Thank you to all our volunteers who made this amazing project possible. With your help, the new reef breakwater and living shoreline will provide habitat, oyster structure, and erosion control for Eglin's important natural and cultural resources.
Thank You Niceville Walmart!
Niceville Walmart has granted CBA $1000 to support our monofilament recycling program in Okaloosa and Walton Counties.

By receiving this grant, we are part of a long history of Walmart’s commitment to giving back to the communities where they operate. In fact, Mrs. Helen Walton used to say “It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.”

Thank you!
Oyster Reef Monitoring
In the month of October, CBA staff visited six different reefs throughout the Choctawhatchee Bay. At each location, we collected data on water quality, oyster quantity, oyster size range, and habitat utilization.

"The data is essential because we can compare and contrast habitat impacts of different reef types. Using this information, CBA can not only continue to refine our best practices, but share lessons learned with other organizations building living shorelines throughout the Southeast," says Brandy Foley, Monitoring Coordinator.
