WJHS Receives National Recognition

Woodland's Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program has been named a PLTW Distinguished School-Gateway for 2018-2019. This is a national distinction awarded by the National Project Lead The Way organization.

Only 14 schools and school districts in Arkansas received a Project Lead They Way award and only 5 Gateway schools in Arkansas were announced as winners--Woodland, Norphlet, Russellville, Hot Springs, and Little Rock.

The Gateway award is for programs serving grades 6-8.
A list of schools can be found here by selecting AR in the middle drop-down box:

Fayetteville Public Schools is implementing the Choose Love curriculum from the   Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement in each of our schools. The Choose Love program emphasizes social and emotional learning (SEL). The program focuses on four important character values - courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion - which cultivate optimism, resilience, and personal responsibility.  Scarlett Lewis, the program's founder, is a native of Fayetteville.

Recently, a national report was published titled, "From a Nation at Risk to a Nation at Hope." The report states "The promotion of social, emotional, and academic learning is not a shifting educational fad; it is the substance of education itself."

Fayetteville Public Schools is proud to be part of this innovative program.  #onefps
