Short-Term Rentals Hearing

Dear Neighbors,
As you know, I advocated for strong
regulation of short-term rentals
when the city enacted its ordinance in 2016. We did so at a time when the concept itself was still new and untested in our city.
Chicago's law contains some good innovations, such such as the prohibited buildings list, but it’s clear that the ordinance needs to be updated to tighten compliance and protect neighborhoods.
On Wednesday, March 4, the License and Consumer Protection Committee, of which I am a member, will be hosting a subject matter hearing to discuss how the City Council can best revise our ordinance. I encourage you to attend, listen and add your voice to the conversation.
Short Term Rental Ordinance Reform Hearing
City Council Committee on License and Consumer Protection
Wednesday, March 4, 2020
11:00 a.m.
City Hall, Council Chambers
121 N LaSalle St., Second Floor
This is our opportunity to share our stories and to urge for greater regulation. If you have comments, please attend the meeting to testify or contact us at
