SPECIAL BRIEFING ON THE COVID-19 (novel coronavirus)

The San Francisco Department of Public Health and the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management will provide congregation leaders with a situation update briefing and the strategic preparedness and response precautions being taken by the City to the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).

On Monday, February 25, 2020, Mayor London N. Breed, issued an emergency declaration to strengthen the City's preparedness to respond to COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).

The declaration of a local emergency is a legal document that allows for the mobilization of City resources, accelerates emergency planning, streamlines staffing, coordinates agencies across the City, allows for future reimbursement by the state and federal governments and raises awareness throughout San Francisco, with respect to preparedness measures needed to be taken in the event that COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) appears in our community.

In their preparedness and response efforts, the San Francisco Department of Public Health and San Francisco Department of Emergency Management have been working with elected officials, other city agencies and community partners. As a key stakeholder, t he San Francisco Interfaith Council has committed to attend weekly Community Branch Coordinating meetings of the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management for the duration of this crisis, arrange briefings for its key constituencies, employ its vast communication network and convey constituent questions and concerns to the proper authorities.
