“A Sense of Place” at the Moraga Art Gallery
Now through March 16, Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon - 5pm, Rheem Shopping Center, at 522 Center Street, Moraga
Wenda Pyman’s latest exhibit of beguiling landscape photographs entitled “A Sense of Place” kicks off the new year at the Moraga Art Gallery. Calling to mind the camera work of Galen Rowell and Eliot Porter, Wenda captures the luminous and timeless splendor of places like Mt. Diablo, Morro Bay, SF’s Baker Beach, and the Florida Keys. The show, which includes paintings, ceramics, jewelry, fused glass, other photographs and more by the gallery’s fourteen member-artists and several guest artists, runs until March 16th. The Moraga Art Gallery is located in the Rheem Shopping Center, at 522 Center Street, Moraga. Its hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit

16 glass artists from the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California
Exhibit up through March 2, 2019; 3620 Mt. Diablo Blvd. Lafayette
Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery (JPG) is proud to present an exhibition featuring 16 glass artists from the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California (ACGA). This exhibit features a variety of wall and pedestal art glass, sculptural- conceptual, and decorative. One notable sculpture depicts a polar bear walking out of an ice block. The work was juried in by gallery owner Jennifer Perlmutter and guest juror Myrna Kimmelman, Executive Director of Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE) and a glass collector. 5% of all sales proceeds in the exhibit will be donated to LPIE to support our schools arts and education programs.
ACGA was founded in 1945 and boasts over 400 clay and glass artists, supporters, collectors and corporate sponsors. ACGA artists exhibit all over the country and most notably at the prestigious ACGA Clay and Glass Festival in Palo Alto, CA.

This vicious cycle jeopardizes our forests and affects us all with extreme weather and more wildfires, some of which are now entering highly populated wildland-urban areas.

Diablo Ballet celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a world premiere fairytale ballet, Once Upon a Time

This March, Diablo Ballet takes you on a fairytale adventure where you will meet Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and more in this world premiere ballet choreographed by renowned dance maker, Julia Adam, and accompanied live by the Contra Costa Wind Symphony. St. Mary’s College Performing Arts Department FREE concert by a young award winning International American Concert Pianist

Bobby Mitchell is an American pianist whose interests are embedded in the here and now of music as performance art, as well as the more standard classical repertory of centuries past. A frequent performer of new and rarely heard works, his interests lie mainly with the contemporary music canon and combining these works with the standard repertoire in an illuminating fashion. An instrumentalist who is not afraid to cross the traditional boundaries of programming and performance practice, he is active as a solo and collaborative concert pianist on modern and historical instruments and is also experienced in the fields of improvisation, composition, and conducting. He has performed extensively in the Americas, across Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East, and recent highlights include concerto performances with Philippe Herreweghe and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. He has otherwise performed as concerto soloist with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Amman Symphony Orchestra, Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Armonico Freiburg, and the new-music ensemble OSSIA, among others. Significant solo activities include numerous performances of Frederic Rzewski’s epic 36 Variations on ‘The People United Will Never Be Defeated!’ and frequent work with composers such as Frederic Rzewski, Steve Reich, and Louis Andriessen as well as regular work with peer composers of his own generation.

All participating members of these bands will receive a recognition/thank you award and the particpants of the winning band of the evening will receive well-deserved awards. This will be a fun evening. Bands will be judged in two ways: First on their music, second on the amount of teenage friends they bring to the event. Food will also be available.
