Douglas County Show Chick Order

This spring several poultry families are coming together to bulk order show chicks from a high quality hatchery. You are invited to partake in this order of chicks so that you can buy fewer, higher quality chicks at a reduced price. This is not just for 4-H show birds. If you are interested in buying replacement hens or even heritage turkeys or know someone who is interested, you might think about participating.

Tuesday, February 19 at 6:30 PM at Kirk Hall.

The meeting we will cover various 4-H projects.

We are in need of volunteers, parents, and/or older 4-H members who can talk to families about our 4-H projects. Our plan is to set up tables throughout Kirk Hall where leaders/4-H members can talk to families and answer project related questions. We would like to have as many projects represented as possible and to have example record books and project boards available for families to look over. This session will be very informal, we want to encourage families to visit each table to find out more about what each project entails.  If you are interested in assisting us with this meeting, please email Claudia ( [email protected] ) with which project(s) you would be willing to represent.

Douglas County 4-H/Open Buckle Series Horse Shows

All shows are held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 500 Fairgrounds Road, Castle Rock, CO 80104

2019 Creative Cooks Contest

Saturday, March 16th

(late entries will not be accepted)

 

Any 4-H’er may participate, including Cloverbuds, in the Creative Cooks Contest. You do not have to be enrolled in a foods’ unit to participate. You may enter as an individual, club, or a team (a team consists of 2). The contest is just what it says- “Creative.” Think of a creative theme and carry it throughout your entry. You’ll need to prepare one of the foods in your menu, two foods for a team, and multiple foods for a club. Champions in each age division are eligible for competition at the state fair, except in the club division.

Horse Member Meeting

February 7th - 6:30 PM Kirk Hall

Required for all new horse members and leaders to attend. We strongly encourage ALL horse members and leaders to attend as we will cover important horse program updates. 

Horse Steering Committee Meetings

Meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 PM at the CSU Extension basement. All parents and members are welcome.

The Horse Steering Committee does

exactly what the name suggests: “steers” the 4-H horse program in Douglas County as we seek to improve the program and provide more opportunities to our horse kids. There are no qualifications or nominations; you simply show up and

provide your input. If you have ideas, suggestions or changes you would like to

see, please plan to join us this year.

On this snowy day, think and ponder about the Douglas County Youth Awards!

Please nominate a student and pass along to others!  The Youth Award recognizes teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19 who have overcome personal adversity and created positive change in their lives. The Youth Awards focus on teenagers who have triumphed over great odds and serve as inspirations and role models. If you know young people who would be good candidates for the Youth Award, please help us identify them by completing the nomination form, link is below.

 

Dr. Tucker, DCSD Superintendent will be on hand as our featured speaker and to congratulate our 10 Outstanding Youth!
