On the day after the first-ever Community Church Day of Service, join us for an uplifting and celebratory Service, as we recognize the impact this church community has on us and on the world.

MUSIC NOTES This Sunday's music includes our "House Band" of Danny Gotham, Jay Miller and Max Kuhlman, who'll be helping out with the Hymn Sing before the Service and the hymns and a choir piece during it. Speaking of the Choir, they'll be doing a lovely piece written by Gwyneth Walker for choir and organ, and a foot-stomping number with the band by Susan Werner.

- Community Day of Service/Annual Pledge Drive TOMORROW IS THE DAY!! Our first Community Day of Service. An exciting time to contribute your time & talent. Be at church for an 8:45 a.m. start. Music, coffee/juice ,and beignets. If you haven't signed up yet, come on down and we'll find a place for you to serve. This will be a day of great service and joy. Our Community Day of Service on Saturday, March 2, is shaping up to be an amazing day! We have more than 250 people signed up to participate in 15 different service projects! There is also a hospitality team working to feed and entertain all our volunteers!
Here is the schedule for Saturday, March 2:
8:45 a.m. - UU Ukes Ensemble
9:00 a.m. - Coffee, juice & beignets
9:15 a.m. - Community Day of Service kick-off
9:30 a.m. - Teams report to service locations at the church or in the community
12:00 - 1:30 p.m. - Lunch back at the church, red beans & rice plus KING CAKE
(Who will find the baby?)
1:00 - 3:00 p.m - Afternoon projects commence
3:30 - 4:00 p.m. - Clean up

And, don't forget: on Sunday, March 3, we will hold our "Service After the Service" at 9:15 and 11:00. With music from the Community Church Choir and the Community Church Band and a sermon from Rev. Thom we will join together in celebration of the impact our congregation makes!
Pledge packets that are not picked up on Saturday or Sunday will be mailed on Monday. Online pledging will begin on Saturday, March 2.

Welcome to our new Congregational Administrator
We are excited to announce the hiring of Dana Lundquist as our new Congregational Administrator. Dana is no stranger to our staff or our church having served as Religious Education Assistant (2017-2018.) Dana brings a passionate commitment to our church and its mission as well as an educational and professional background in Mathematics. She says, "I'm really excited for the opportunity to return back to staff and serve this wonderful community." Dana will be training with Andrea throughout the month of February, and her official first day in the office will be
March 5. She hopes you'll stop by her office to say hello!

- FRIENDLY REMINDER There are two parking spaces in the church's large parking lot that are reserved parking for those who purchased those spots at the Fall Auction. Please do not park in those spots unless you purchased them. We know that parking is often especially tight on Sunday morning. We encourage all who are able to do so to park offsite in the Odum Village lots to help relieve congestion in our lot.

- ECO FIRST SUNDAY RECYCLING Mar. 3 at Coffee Hour: gently used children's books. As every month, ECO is also collecting batteries (AAA - D, button, rechargeable), corks (natural and synthetic), and tiny bits of metal (paper clips, nails, screws, etc.).

- EGGS-CELLENT OPPORTUNITY Don't miss your chance to get fresh eggs from Cathy Cole's chickens, during coffee hour in the upcoming weeks in the Jones Building while each week's supply lasts. $5/dozen, all proceeds boost the church's Capital Fund and help CLOSE THE GAP. - FIRST FRIDAY DINNER AT INTER-FAITH COUNCIL COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Friday, March 1, is our next turn to provide dinner at the Community Kitchen at Rosemary & Columbia in Chapel Hill. Please sign up here to help prep and/or serve dinner at IFC! Thank you for your service to our community.

- A FEW SINFUUL SLOTS FOR MUSIC GALA STILL OPEN! There's still a few empty slots for performers in this year's Music Gala, SinfUUl Songs (Sat., April 13, 7pm). So if you've got a tune illustrating one of the Seven Deadly Sins, contact Music Director Glenn Mehrbach to join the fun. We strongly encourage collaboration, so grab a partner or more to help with your contribution. Deadline for submission is March 2.

- COMMUNITY CLICKERS Join us in the Commons for our next daytime meeting from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, March 6th. We will design a shawl for UNC Hospice using 7" x 9" washable acrylic, worsted weight (#4) blocks and then click and chat. You are also welcome to come click and chat the entire time! - ENDOWMENT FUND GRANT OPPORTUNITIES Do you have a project the Endowment Fund can support? This year we are offering $2000 in grants to strengthen our church's mission (within or beyond its walls) as well as $7000 to support our Building Program. Non-building projects are due by Mar 15.

- NONFICTION BOOK DISCUSSION FOR MARCH On Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 in the Kirby Room, the Nonfiction Readers will discuss Natural Causes: An Epidemic of Wellness, the Certainty of Dying, and Killing Ourselves to Live Longer, by Barbara Ehrenreich. Ivy Brezina will lead our discussion. The Readers meet on the third Saturday of each month; new members and drop-ins are welcome. Click here to contact the group.

- OUTDOOR CONNECTIONS MARCH 16 OUTING Join Outdoor Connections for the Pump Station Trail in Eno River State Park. The Pump Station Trail is known as the best spring wildflower trail in the park. It's an easy loop hike with a few gentle hills. We can meet at church to carpool at 10 am. Afterwards we can have lunch at Picnic. RSVP for updates.

- DO YOU LIKE TO KEEP UP WITH THE BUILDING PROJECT? Have you seen the February issue of Building Blocks: C3HUU's Building Project Update? Copies are available at the Building on Our Legacy display in the alcove between kitchen and stage, and online via the Building on Our Legacy section of the church website, along with building sketches, lots of other details, and contact information.

- ECO letter-writing If you missed our letter-writing in February supporting the Green New Deal, you can write a letter to your legislator at home. For talking points and a sample letter, CLICK HERE. There has been a lot of misinformation about the Green New Deal. ECO's view is that support for the Green New Deal demonstrates that we consider climate change to be an urgent issue. Action is needed, but the details remain to be worked out.

- BOUNTIFUL BAGS Bountiful Bags were handed out and we received FIFTY filled Bountiful Bags back! The bags were filled with non-perishable foods to help stock the Inter-Faith Council Food Pantry. IFC appreciates the generosity of The Community Church. If you haven't returned your filled bag, it's not too late! Donations will still be gratefully accepted. Questions? - SHARE THE PLATE THANKS What a generous congregation you are! The STP collection for TABLE on Feb. 10 raised $1546. Every week, TABLE fills over 650 bags with food and distributes them to food-insecure-area kids, so that they will have something healthy to eat on weekends and school breaks when they don't have access to their free school meals. The Community Service Ministry thanks you so much for supporting TABLE in this effort.

- SHARE THE PLATE THANK YOU: COLLECTION FOR REFUGEE SUPPORT CENTER The congregation's generosity in supporting the Refugee Support Center's Pathway to Citizenship Program on January 20th raised $1,582.00. The STP collection was immediately put to use to afford workbooks and flash cards. On behalf of the organization, its director, Flicka Bateman, and the people it serves, thank you!

- FAITH CONNECTIONS ON MENTAL ILLNESS ANNUAL CONFERENCE: April 5
Registration is now open for the April 5th Conference, Hope and Healing: Faith Communities and the Suicide Crisis. This all-day conference focuses on suicide prevention, and guest speakers will address how faith communities can engage, support, and build resiliency around those affected by suicide and suicidality. - Help make Sunday mornings happen - Become a Greeter! Our church is busier than ever, and we need folks to help welcome people in to our church on Sunday morning and we have many Greeter spaces open over the next few weeks! Please take a moment to sign up to be a Greeter, and help new people see what our community is really like. Please join us when you can for this simple, but important work. Thanks so much - your help is appreciated!

- WELCOMING CHILDREN IN THE SANCTUARY Children are a wonderful gift to this community. Children are always welcome to worship in the Sanctuary. To support little ones during the service, we will now offer Busy Bags (pouches with fun activities) and Busy Boards (coloring and writing activities) as well as soft toys for our youngest worshipers. Stop by the new Children's Welcome Table in the Sanctuary (across from the Art Table near the Sound Room).

- LECTIO (SACRED READING) MEDITATION GROUP meets at noon every Friday in the Commons. We use readings from poetry and the wisdom traditions of the world's religions as prompts for reflection and sharing. No need to sign up ahead of time. Please join us.

- MEDITATION Want to explore learning to meditate or developing your own mindfulness/meditation? Our group members would be happy to meet with you individually and share experiences.
