Much has been happening in Haiti recently, but not very much news has found its way to the media in the United States. This has been a time of political turmoil and trouble in Haiti. It's been a cyclical problem in the country for many years. This latest round started in July of last year, and really intensified during the month of February. Various political factions are calling for the ouster of the government, and set up burning barricades that completely blocked the ability to buy and sell, and for kids to go school. The objective of the protesters is to bring about a change of government, and violence is the chosen tool.

Things calmed toward the latter part of the month, although the calm may be temporary since nothing has really changed. It seems that everyone is exhausted, but those who want trouble may only be gathering their energy for the next round of protest. Through it all, there is still a place of peace. That place of peace is within the hearts of those who know Christ as their Savior. After all, Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace! Even though there may be trouble in the neighborhood, there can be peace in the heart of those who follow Christ.

During this time of trouble, the clinic staff has done their best to bring the peace that's in their hearts into the neighborhood where the clinic is located. It has not been easy. Sometimes roadblocks have prevented staff from getting to the clinic and the clinic could not open. Even so, the clinic has faithfully operated during the month as the city burned. The staff made every effort to persevere. They offer life saving services to those who need it the most.
