First Friday Potluck - March 6 - 6:00-8:00PM

This monthly event is entirely social-an informal time to get together and enjoy the company of other church members. March's event is hosted by Molly & Jerry Hufton at 590 Thornwood Lane, Northfield, IL . Bring a dish to share and they will provide beverages. At the same time, fifth through eighth graders are invited to this month's First Friday Faves from 6-7:30PM in the Great Hall at 470 Maple Street.
This Sunday
Welcome to Jeanne Bishop

This Sunday, we are happy to welcome Jeanne Bishop to speak to us during the sermon time at 8 and 9:30 about the subject of her upcoming book. Grace from the Rubble. The book tells the  story of how the father of a young woman killed in the Oklahoma City bombing, Bud Welch, and the father of her killer, Bill McVeigh, forged an unlikely friendship and found forgiveness.

After the 9:30 service, we will give people a chance to visit with Jeanne then and ask questions.
Taizé at 5:30PM

If you are in need of an hour of quiet prayer and meditation, please join us for a time of grace and peace. This candlelit, contemplative service will include readings, prayers, and silence interspersed with tuneful chants accompanied by flute. We offer the service of Taizé on the second Sunday of the month at 5:30PM. Childcare is provided.

Please join us at 5:30PM for a beautiful Evensong and delicious supper to celebrate St. Patrick's weekend. The service will feature our Youth and Adult Choirs singing music associated with St. Patrick, including an anthem by Richard Clemmitt titled "May the Living Christ Be With You." I Will, with God's Help: A Peace & Justice Event - Monday, March 16-7:00PM

The last call-and-response of the Baptismal Covenant is when the Celebrant asks the congregation, "Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?" We respond, "I will, with God's help." Our newly formed Peace & Justice Committee is on a journey to seek ways to live out this ask from our faith. Given the complexities of today's world and our own lives, we will work to discover together how we are individually called to strive for peace and justice in ways that grow our faith.

Join fellow parishioners on March 16 at 7:00PM to hear author Robin DiAngelo speak about her current book White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. This is a free FAN (Family Awareness Network) event held at the Evanston Township High School Auditorium, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston. We will gather immediately following the talk at the home of Eric Hillerbrand & Jenny Smith, 634 Prairie Ave., Wilmette for wine and discussion. Even if you haven't read the book, come. This will be akin to a verbal Cliff/Spark notes on the book.

On Sunday, April 19 we will gather for supper and a discussion of the book by Isabel Wilkerson entitled The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration. Details to follow.
Understanding & Analyzing Systemic Racism - March 26-28

What exactly is racism, and how does it operate in our society? Please consider attending this in-depth 2.5 day workshop offered in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese. The workshop is called "Understanding and Analyzing Systemic Racism", and it runs March 26-28 (Thurs. evening through Saturday afternoon), down in Hyde Park. A core group of our parishioners have attended and Christopher attended the most recent session in January. It would be great if we could gather some parishioners to attend together in March. This experience offers a history-based view of how racism is baked into the fiber of America. If you'd like to be a part of a team going from Christ Church, register on the crossroadsantiracism.org website. Follow the prompts for "workshops."

Note that attendance is required at all 3 days of the workshop. Please email Charlotte McGee for more information. We also invite you to engage Christopher about his experience in January.

First Friday Faves - March 6

March 6 is our next First Friday Faves. The theme is all things CREATIVE! We will play games and eat pizza, as always, but this month there will also be a variety of artistic options. Thank you to Regan Christopolous who will be helping host and leading the kids in TIE-DYI N G! Thank you to Sarah McCool who will teach us how to create beautiful bouquets; everyone will make a vase to take home. All fifth through eighth graders and their friends are invited! Friday, March 6 from 6-7:30PM in the Great Hall at 470 Maple Street. Please RSVP so we will have the right amount of supplies!
Soul Fuel - March 9

Our high school youth (9th - 12th graders) will gather on Sunday, March 8 at 4PM in the Soul Fuel room on the top floor of the church, 784 Sheridan Road. Since this is our Lenten meeting, our theme is reflection. Come find out what "Morning Pages" are. We will also talk about WHO will PREACH at our Mother's Day Youth Service, so please come if you are interested or have a nomination. Friends are always welcome. We'll have snacks. RSVP: [email protected].
8th Grade Confirmation Retreat - March 13

It has been almost two wonderful years of formation for Confirmation with our current eighth graders. One very special part of Confirmation is the eighth grade retreat, which is coming up on Friday, March 13. We will be at the church from 6-10PM doing all kinds of fun (and spiritual!) stuff.

Kids Connection - March 15

Kids Connection is our monthly program for 3rd and 4th graders to get together and connect with their faith and each other. The focus is on games, crafts, and having fun! Our next Kids Connection is Sunday, March 15, 4:00-4:50PM. We will hear about the holy season of Lent, learn about St. Patrick whose saint's day falls during Lent, and sample some green foods to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! We meet in the Children's Chapel room on the Nursery level.
7th Grade Confirmation Gathering - March 16

On Monday, March 16 all 7th graders will gather for their third whole group gathering this year. So far we have learned about how our history has led to the Episcopal concept of "Via Media" and the Book of Common Prayer. At our next meeting, we will take a deep dive into a third thing that makes Episcopalians special: our liturgy. It will be a fun, experiential evening that you won't want to miss. Parents: let Megan know if you would like to provide dessert or help serve dinner.
Join us June 13-20 to Appalachia!
