Today's COVID-19 briefing was given by Dr. Nate Smith, the Arkansas Secretary of Health. Smith handled the briefing because Gov. Asa Hutchinson is in Washington.
Arkansas so far has 5,003 COVID-19 cumulative cases, of which 3,852 are considered recovered. Of those, 1,044 are active with 315 cases in prisons and 85 in the state's nursing homes. The remaining 644 active cases that have been detected are in the community. Currently, there are 79 people hospitalized, 16 of those on ventilators. Since yesterday, 5 people have died, bringing the state's total deaths to 107. Of the five deaths, four were nursing home residents.
During the briefing, other state health officials were brought in to discuss other issues, including prevention and control of clusters of the disease and workplace safety.

A statewide map is available that shows national, state and county numbers in regards to COVID-19. As of May 20 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 92,583.

Saline & Garland Counties
As of Wedensday, 82 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County and 2,675 have tested negative. Of those testing positive, 72 have recovered. The total number of people who have died in Saline County remains at one.
In Garland County, 130 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 3,434 have tested negative. Of the people infected, 120 have recovered and one has died.
