October has been "Awareness Month" at Lake Nona Middle School. This past week we held two special days in support of anti-bullying and breast cancer awareness: UNITY DAY and PINK OUT DAY. We had excellent participation and I want to thank all of our Knights, our teachers, and the staff that participated. I think you will enjoy some of the pictures which capture the spirit from both days!

Regular readers of The Kingdom's Chronicle have seen wonderful stories all along of our students engaged in academic successes, serving others in the community, competing across four different sports, sharing their talents in art shows, on the stage, in tough music & chorus competitions, and much more. Lake Nona has amazing students! However, illegal drugs, underage drinking, misuse of prescription drugs and other behaviors along these lines can ruin the successes our students have worked so hard to achieve. Red Ribbon Week represents a few days set out each year to bring these important issues to the fore and I hope all of our parents & guardians will support our educational efforts here over the days ahead.

Finally, this will only be a four-day week for students as Friday, October 30 is a Teacher Professional Day. Classes will resume as usual the following Monday.
Make it a great Red Ribbon Week Knights!

Unity Day - Anti Bullying
Unity Day Highlights!
To promote a more inclusive, kind, and accepting environment at Lake Nona Middle School, during lunch on Wednesday students were writing KIND words on Post-it's to add to our Kindness Board in the main foyer.

We would love to see our teachers and staff participate as well and add their own KIND Post-it. So far, 6th and 7th grades have done a wonderful job at adding KIND words!

PINK OUT DAY for Breast Cancer Awareness
About Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. There are about 1.38 million new cases and 458,000 deaths from breast cancer each year. Our students went pink for the day to show their support.
