World Vets Operates Free Sterilization & Rabies Campaign in India
World Vets volunteer Christina Sloan with Indian street dog

Earlier this month World Vets operated a two week long campaign south of New Delhi, India. This veterinary effort provided free spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats.

We'd like to thank our donors, dedicated veterinary volunteers as well as local partners, People for Animals Trust and the National Institute of Animal Welfare of Faridabad, for making this possible.

Helping Street Dogs in Kathmandu | Balu

World Vets volunteers Dr April Deddens & Christina Sloan with Balu

On our recent free sterilization campaign in Nepal, World Vets volunteers met a street dog named Balu that stole their hearts.

When he is not wandering the streets of the Thamel district, he can be found in a local  jewelry shop. The store's owner welcomes him indoors to rest during the day, and has even come to think of him as her own.  When our volunteers offered to have him neutered, she was elated and even cried! Since he had never been on a leash before, he was carried in the arms of volunteers and even had his own seat on the bus! The ride to our worksite was quite bumpy, but he didn't fuss. He spent the whole day with our team, even celebrated a volunteer's birthday, and was later returned to the shop.

If you want to help street dogs like Balu, we still have volunteer opportunities available on our upcoming small animal project in Nepal. Two free sterilization campaigns have been scheduled for April 13 - 20, 2019 & April 20 - 27, 2019
