Advocacy Days at the Legislature
 
UBCM's Executive was in Victoria last week to raise awareness of key policy priorities. Over two days, Executive members met with 34 MLAs from all parties, including Premier John Horgan, 9 ministers, the leader of the Official Opposition, and both caucus chairs. Meetings focussed on local government consultation, local government finance and climate action. Read more 
Pathways to Collaboration Snuneymuxw FN  
 
The Snuneymuxw First Nation and the City of Nanaimo are working towards reconciliation, formalized in government-to-government agreements to better coordinate decision-making for the region. Theirs is one of the stories featured in Pathways to Collaboration, a project to showcase the growing number of successful economic development collaborations and partnerships between First Nations and local governments in BC. 
Overview of Local Government EPA Feedback
 
UBCM has produced a broad overview of local government feedback expressed as part of the ongoing Emergency Program Act review. This document has been forwarded to Emergency Management BC for consideration as the Province contemplates significant changes to its emergency management legislation. Read more 
Evacuation Route Planning Funding
 
The Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) stream for Evacuation Route Planning has an upcoming application deadline of Friday, April 17th.  Read more
