DRAGON TALES
2/28/19

Dear St. George Families,

I know that many families have been "hit with a bug" lately. We have experienced a number of students and staff miss school with the flu and other viruses. We continually remind staff and students to stay home when sick, wash hands frequently and stay away from others who may be contagious.
You may be wondering what SGS is doing to help during cold and flu season, in addition to regular cleaning and extra classroom wipe downs with disinfectant.
Last school year we entered into a contract with Dis.In.Fx. They come to our school campus on a regular basis and treat all school buildings and classrooms with an antimicrobial that kills germs using hospital grade disinfectants. Not only do they apply the treatments, but they come out to SGS on a monthly basis and test the effectiveness of the product. Dis.In.Fx was on our campus late last week and administered their routine monthly tests and our campus passed. Although these treatments are effective in killing germs on all surfaces they cannot prevent germs transmitted by touch or through airborne transmission.
Below, please see the certificate that demonstrates that we have passed our last inspection. I know this might not be much solace if you have a sick child. But, please know we are doing everything possible to minimize your student's absence from school.

God bless,
Jack Nelson

In the month of February, we have focused on the virtue of honesty. During mass and at assembly, students heard about what it means to be a person of integrity.

Suggested Family Activities:
**Pray a family prayer: Holy Spirit, open our minds and our hearts to listen to God's Word. (Read and discuss John 8:31-32)
** Lies are never okay, but we also do not have to say everything that is true. Whenever you are not sure if you should say something, ask yourself these three questions: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it helpful?
** Discuss as a family when you might not say something instead of saying what is true.

What is the Home & School Association Board?
The Home & School Association Board is made up of volunteers who are working or stay at home parents of children enrolled at St. George Catholic School. Our goal is to encourage a channel of communication and interchange among parents, teachers, and the administrative staff while supporting the school through planned activities, social functions and fundraisers. Some of the activities and events we coordinate include Grandparents Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Spirit Day. As a team, we enjoy helping our school and having the opportunities to meet new parents. If you have more questions about Home & School, please feel free to contact Jen Parfait at [email protected].
