Ask anyone who knows me and they will be sure to tell you I love movies and the mystique surrounding their cast, their filming locations, their story line, etc. When sitting down to write this article, one scene from a Tom Cruise classic came to mind. One of the most powerful scenes in the movie "Jerry Maguire" is when Tom Cruise's character develops his own personal mission statement while rebuilding his career and his personal brand. If you have never seen it, here is a link to YouTube where you can take a look.
Recently, CILO went through an internal exercise to refine our mission statement. Our new mission statement has been streamlined from our previous version to give a more succinct description of what we actually do here at CILO. It is my pleasure to officially share it with you:
I would like to thank our staff team for initiating this change, as well as our board for their guidance, input, and final approval. I am very excited about what this will bring about in the year to come, most notably the formulation of a new three year strategic plan. Please keep an eye out for this information and how you can help us set our priorities and goals for the years to come.
As always, I want to hear your ideas and thoughts and I encourage you to contact me!

Health & Wellness Works!
It seems everyone starts the new year with plans to eat better and exercise more! Last month CILO's Independent Living/Peer Support Specialist presented health and wellness trainings for residents living in Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (
CMHA) communities. These trainings were focused on the importance of healthy eating and exercise, and how they can impact overall health. Participants from Maple Towers, Beechwood and The Evanston were enthusiastic about healthy living and have already started making exercise a regular activity!
