MoDOT held its fourth annual Buckle Up Phone Down Day on Oct. 16 to bring attention to two simple actions that can save lives on the state’s highways – fastening your seat belt and putting your phone down while driving.
Gov. Mike Parson proclaimed last Friday as BUPD Day, and many groups across the state participated, including schools, law enforcement, media and other state agencies.
And new states continue to join the campaign as the movement grows nationwide.
This year more than ever, the BUPD message is vitally important as we’ve seen an increase in MoDOT vehicles being hit and a rise in fatalities on Missouri highways.
If your group or organization would like to get involved, MoDOT has created a BUPD starter kit with all the tools you’ll need.
Join more than 13,000 individuals and businesses who have accepted the BUPD challenge.
