Animal (Prints) as Wild as Ever
Animal print lovers, take heart.  The trend toward all things fauna continues unabated. Interpretations of patterns and palettes are modernized this season with richer tones and luxe textiles.  As in the animal kingdom, selections range from subtle to outright outlandish.  We’ve pulled together some picks from our visits to European and American shows that illustrate that we all love a little walk on the wild side.

From exotic wild game to whimsical flamingos, animal inspired prints have captured not only the fashion runways but also home decor as well.  Some translations are subtle like textile interpretations of gator. Others are bold and realistic looking (no worries...no actual animals were harmed in any of our picks!). Our trendspotting team went on safari to trap a few examples of this untamed trend….
Top Image: Stripe it rich with Lexington Home Brands’ Tommy Bahama Home  Los Altos Tangiers Hall Chest featuring a slinky jungle cat motif.  With a more subdued contrast than has been seen in years past, this piece is chicly best-of-breed. Above Image: 1. The folks at Creative Home Ideas characterize the trend with a vibrant, fun fashion-focused flare. BoHo Living  Flamingo Paradise pillow in this lively tropical print will certainly create a distinctive focal point. 2. The  Gator Spot Table with a gold leaf finish from Artistica Home is a little bit opulent and a whole lot of modern. This is one side table that takes center stage. 3. If you want a stop-you-in-your-tracks statement seat, this may be it.  Plush flamingos and fake feathers meet acrylic and metal to form a chair.  Or is it sculpture? Or maybe just a conversation piece? Whatever it is, it is not alone.  It was seen in Paris at Maison et Object alongside similarly styled pieces using plush boars’ heads, swans, and teddy bears. 4. Leopards and monkeys and parrots, oh my! All these and more jungle creatures happily cohabitate on this striking Lynn Chase  Jungle Jubliee china pattern offered by the renown purveyor of hard-to-find tableware and more, Replacements Ltd. 5. From Prada pumps to these luxe velvet  leopard sneakers from Superga, footwear continues to lead the pack when it comes to animal prints.  We know we shouldn’t, but we just can’t resist calling these Italian tennies “animal trainers.” 6. Plush cut velvet in an alligator pattern was spotted at Maison et Objet this year.  Rich hues of emerald green, burgundy, and deep, dusty pink interpreted the hide into sumptuous, slightly feminine feel and form. 7. Animal print, indeed.  Start your day with a smile when you see Picture Source Somerset’s  Llama Specs III giclee.   It’s no exaggeration to say that animal art is everywhere and it seems to be growing. From the stylish species at  Zoe Bios Creative to Robin Rowe’s iconic one-of-a-kind cows, it seems if it stands still long enough, someone will paint it. 8. Maybe you can’t afford the $379,000  Hermes Birkin bag like David Beckham bought his wife, Victoria, at auction recently, but if you want to emulate that, you can purchase one on the site for unique, vetted objects, 1st Dibs, for five figures. They tell us the bags sell like hotcakes.
