Every cloud has a silver lining..
Dear Caregivers,
It is my hope that you are all faring well, and staying well.
I am going to get right to it! I am going to share my contemplation of COVID-19, our dreaded topic (at least it is for me)
Never in a million years did I ever think I would be living through a pandemic. I guess I was naive enough to think it was something from the past. Way back! A few come into mind, the Spanish flu of 1918, bubonic plague, which we learned killed around twenty percent of the London population. There have been many more that we have survived, none of which stopped the Earth from spinning.
Dear friends, this is what our focus should be. The world is not ending, it is changing. I believe some great things will be born of this tragic time. We will make changes for the better, like families living day to day as a family again. They actually eat meals together again and play outside! They are not rushing off to practice or even work for some people. It is true that because of the virus it has been forced upon us, our children are bored, and they miss sporting events and friends. We all miss the social interaction. However, here is the important part. Once this is over, we will recognize that it is time to slow down in all aspects of our daily lives. It is time to cherish our moments as a family. Make time to eat together before or after the mad rush to games, and other activities. Call our loved ones, family, and friends more often. Let us never again take a kiss, or a warm and loving hug for granted!
So now is the time to ask ourselves..."What have we learned? How have we changed for the better, individually or as a society?" One of the things I have learned is the feeling of isolation. It made me realize that this must be the way you, as caregivers feel, most of the time.
There are good things happening among the bad, and scary parts on the news, or in the daily newspaper. People always seem to do great things during a crisis such as this.
Let us all try to listen more carefully, and let the good news sink into our heart, our mind, and our soul.
