Free Drive Thru & Walk-Up COVID-19 Testing
Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. is providing free COVID-19 testing for the residents of Pahokee with the support of the Anquan Boldin Foundation (NFL Players Coalition) & Community Foundation for Palm Beach & Martin Counties.

COVID-19 Testing at Canal Point Baptist Church
On Wednesday, May 20, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Department will be conducting walk-up and drive-up COVID-19 testing in Canal Point to any resident who wishes to be tested, regardless if they have symptoms. Testing is free. No appointment is necessary.

Food Distributions in the Glades

The Glades Initiative Offers Food Distribution
For the past year and a half, and continuing into the future, The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

School Feeding Sites Open Tuesdays & Thursdays
Meal distribution at School District locations has returned to twice a week. Distributions will occur Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month of May, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 51 locations. Each day, parents and guardians who pick up food will receive a kit with three days' worth of meals for each child.

Summer Food Service Program Feeds Children at Local Libraries
Palm Beach County Youth Services Department's Summer Food Service Program, in partnership with the Palm Beach County Library System, continues pre-summer feeding at six sites throughout Palm Beach County. Sites will distribute seven days' worth of meals to each eligible child. Meal distribution will be available on Wednesdays in the Glades from 10 am to 1 pm, or until all meal kits are distributed. Currently, pre-summer feeding sites will distribute food once a week through Wednesday, May 27.

Florida KidCare offers free or low-cost health insurance for kids and teens. Premium assistance eligibility is based on income and household size. Enrollment and coverage is available all year. The Glades Initiative can also assist with your KidCare application.

Palm Beach County Expands COVID-19 Testing for Homebound and Elderly
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, with the support of the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management and the Florida Division of Emergency Management will begin the testing of homebound residents the week of May 18. Residents eligible for the new testing option include homebound elderly or individuals with disabilities who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and cannot leave their homes to access one of the drive-up or walk-up test collection sites.
CONTACT: Residents who believe they are eligible for the in-home testing option should call the Palm Beach County Emergency Information Center (EIC) at 561-712-6400 for a pre-qualifying assessment. The testing line is open from 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday.

Registration Open for 2020 Back to School PBC Event
Registration is now open for the 2020 Back to School PBC! event to be held on Saturday, August 1. Back to School PBC! will be a drive-up event this year, and will be held at different locations throughout the county to be announced at a later date. Registration is mandatory to participate, and students must reside in designated neighborhoods or mobile home parks in unincorporated Palm Beach County to be eligible to register.

From the U.S. Army Corps: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will maintain the current release schedule from Lake Okeechobee, but heavy rain forecasted for the Lake Okeechobee waterway May 10 may require flows from the C-43 and C-44 canals to control water levels for flood control.
