Do your patrons want to research their genealogy at home? Remind them about
Heritage Quest.  This database has been acquired by Ancestry and has much more of the look and feel of Ancestry than it did in the past.  The Ancestry Library Edition, available only at the library, has approximately 4,000 databases. But for an initial search, Heritage Quest provides all U.S. Federal Censuses from 1790 through 1940, slave, veteran, and non-population schedules, and more related content. It includes Social Security Death Index (SSDI) containing over 94 million records of deceased persons with social security numbers whose deaths were reported to the Social Security Administration. In addition it provides 28,000 family histories, local histories, and other books.  For research in the comfort of their home, send patrons to your county website, select the database page, look for Heritage Quest and let the family discoveries begin.

We'd like to give a shout out to our Western Maryland Library partners who are celebrating an Anniversary in March and April. Way to go! It is a pleasure to be able to honor your years of service with the Libraries of Western Maryland.
