Today's update includes updates from the Texas Association of Business, a reminder about an upcoming free seminar with management expert Glenn Shepard for our members, the first business winner in the Amarillo Matters Shop Local campaign, and more. If you are a business with fewer than 50 employees, make sure you sign up with the Amarillo Matters link below for your chance to win $1,000 for your business and $500 for one of your customers.

We are thrilled to offer a FREE virtual seminar with Glenn on Thursday, May 21st at 11am. This will be a SHRM Accredited 45-Minute Webinar with Management Expert Glenn Shepard titled, "How to Manage Problem Employees & Handle Difficult People."

Amarillo Matters Gives First $1,000 Prize to Local Business

Amarillo Matters has committed $25,000 to be given out over the next several weeks to encourage Amarillo residents to Shop Local!

The first local business winner was announced in a drawing held Monday, May 11th on the Amarillo Matters Facebook page. Congratulations to Chamber Member, White Rabbit Antiques on winning $1,000. Anyone who shops there this week will also be eligible to be entered into a drawing for a $500 prize!

If you go out, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. If you know of a local business, who needs some extra support, be sure they sign up to participate at www.amarillomatters.com/shoplocal.

​Businesses must be locally owned, members of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, or the Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce, and have less than 50 employees.

Each Monday, a participating business will be selected at random and awarded $1,000. The following Friday, one of the businesses' customers from the week will be selected at random to receive $500.

Businesses must complete the online form to be eligible.
Under the direction of Governor Abbott, with the advice of the Lt. Governor, Speaker of the House, Attorney General, and Texas Comptroller: The Governor’s Strike Force to Open Texas will safely and strategically restart and revitalize all aspects of the Lone Star State—work, school, entertainment, and culture.

Click here to see a list of restaurants providing curbside takeaway, delivery, and drive thru options in Amarillo. This page has multiple sources for restaurant lists from Facebook groups, the Panhandle Restaurant Association, other websites, and the Convention & Visitor Council's list that our office maintains.
