Transportation Department Welcomes you back!!
Al Nardi: Transportation Supervisor x 7362
Mimi Doria: 732.329.4000 x 7363
- Temperature checks before boarding and masks are required
- When making your reservation, please inquire about approximate pick up times and return home times.
The Transportation Department works with the Senior Center to help its members travel to doctor appointments, go food shopping, banking, visit pharmacies etc. as well as running special trips to malls, big box stores and restaurants. In pre-pandemic times they also ran trips to museums, concerts and other places of interest.
Old Schedule
Also 'pre-pandemic' the the department ran a schedule of shuttles to the Senior Center beginning early in the morning for classes/programs that began at 9:00 am and again brought members in at 10:30 am. The return home shuttles were at 1:30 pm and 3:15 pm.
WE WILL RETURN TO THIS OLD SCHEDULE
SOMETIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
We needed to slightly modify the schedule for the shuttles because we are not offering the wherewithal to eat lunch at this time (as mentioned last week, you are more than welcome to bring a snack and water for quick sustenance). These modifications allow us to drive you home just in time for lunch or we will pick you up and you can eat lunch before you arrive.
The Temporary Senior Center Shuttle:
-
The new schedule for riding the bus to come to the center: You will be picked up approximately at 9:15 am and board the bus to return home at approximately 11:30 am.
- The next shuttle is pick up approximately at 1 pm and you will board the bus to return home approximately at 3:15 pm.
As always, you will need a bus pass. Each way is fifty cents and passes are sold in denominations of $10, $20 and $30. You will also need a bus pass for supermarket shopping, errands etc.
If you are interested in transportation to a physicians appointment call with plenty of advance notice. Please know your doctors name, address, date and time of appointment and phone number. We cannot guarantee availability or travel to areas beyond our catchment area. Call to inquire if we travel to your doctors office.
Boarding a bus/van
The transportation service provided is considered 'curb to curb'; in other words you need to be able to access and disembark the bus independently, carry your shopping bags independently, etc. There is a lift available on each vehicle for anyone who needs a lift or has a hard time on steps. A caregiver is always welcome to accompany you for all transportation services. (no charge for the caregiver)
