Current Situational Level: Level 2 |

While the district has been operating at Level 2 in our COVID plan since the start of school, we were waiting for the first full month to formally announce the level we were at to make sure we didn’t need to adjust our plan or how we were operating. We will remain at Level 2. The situational level description can be found at www.nixapublicschools.net/covid19.

The district’s new COVID-19 case numbers have been updated at www.nixapublicschools.net/covid19. Please note these are the new cases that we identified as positive during that week.
In addition, due to the increase in cases in the county, the Christian County Health Department is using resources from across the state, so if you are identified as a direct contact the phone call could come from area codes across the state.

UPDATED: USDA Grant: Free Meals ALL SCHOOL YEAR |
|
The US government passed a bill that will extend the grant program for free breakfast and lunch through the end of the school year (this was originally due to end on December 31).
So, all students will qualify for a free breakfast and a free lunch for the entire school year. Students will go through the process like normal, but when they go to pay, it will be free.
This only includes our traditional plated lunch items. Ala carte items will remain at al-a-carte prices and do not fall under the free meal category.

Nixa Cans Tigers But Both Communities Share Record of 83,655 Pounds of Food |

|
Nixa won the football game and the food drive in a record-setting year for the charitable effort tied to the Backyard Brawl high school football rivalry with Ozark.
The two communities combined to bring in 83,655 pounds for Least Of These food pantry, a 26-percent increase over 2019 and a record for the Can the Tigers/Can the Eagles effort.

Nixa Schools Hiring Substitute Teachers |
|
New state standards have temporarily waived the 60-college hour requirement to obtain a substitute certificate.
Subs can anticipate more than $100 each day worked.
A valid Missouri substitute teacher certificate from DESE will be required for all applicants.

The district is accepting applications for paraprofessionals working within our special education department. Our current needs are with those in grades 7-12 but openings vary throughout the school year, so be sure to get your application in to be considered. To be eligible, an applicant will need at least 60 hours of college credit and be eligible to obtain a substitute certificate through DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education).
