Focusing on 2020 and beyond
|
The discussion was thoughtful and at times lively as City leaders from Beaufort held a two-day retreat Feb. 18-19 at the St. Helena Public Library. The purpose was to review the current
Strategic Plan
, figure out where priorities had changed, and start to sketch out goals for the next several years.
Participating were Mayor Billy Keyserling, Mayor Pro Tem Mike McFee, Councilmembers Phil Cromer, Stephen Murray and Nan Sutton; City Manager Bill Prokop; Assistant City Manager Reece Bertholf, and various department heads.
We'll have more details soon as the new Strategic Plan is developed.

SCDMV holding Real ID outreach March 16
|
|
Do you have your Real ID driver's license yet? If your South Carolina license has a gold star on it, the answer is yes. If you don't have the star, you don't have a Real ID.
Real ID is an enhanced ID that will be required beginning Oct. 1, 2020, to board a domestic, commercial flight, enter a secure federal building, or visit a military installation.
The SCDMV and S.C. Elections Commission are holding an outreach event from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the Buckwalter Recreation Center, 905 Buckwalter Pkwy, Bluffton. You can get your Real ID there and also register to vote.

Do's & don'ts on yard debris
It’s that time of year – raking, planting and getting your yard ready for spring. That also means more yard debris will be collected by
WastePro
, which provides trash and recyclable services for the City. Yard debris is collected once per week on your garbage collection day.
Here are some tips from WastePro:
- Place all items adjacent to but not in the street by 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day.
- Bulk waste and yard waste materials must be generated by the resident at the home where the bulk is collected.
- Vegetative yard trash MUST be put in disposable containers not to exceed 50 pounds and 4 feet in length or tied in bundles also less than 50 pounds and 4 feet in length per bundle.
