WINTER 2020
VET REN QUARTERLY
A Spotlight on Veteran Enriched Neighborhoods®
Our Projects
Welcoming Our New Veterans
"After constantly being told I didn't qualify for a home, I thought Homes4Families was too good to be true. . . . Now my kids and I are moving into a brand new home! I am forever grateful for this program."
Please join us in welcoming one of our new Veterans into our Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®. Darcel is a single mother of 3 children. We already have 17 families selected for our CalVet REN project for veterans in Palmdale. These homes will be built using a holistic and sustainable approach to minimize chemical sensitivity and PTSD triggers for our veterans. All homes are part of our Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® model, which provides wraparound services to move families into self-sufficiency and the middle class. All homes will be single-story with a number of fully ADA accessible units and the neighborhood will include a community garden and playground.

Construction Update
PALMDALE & BEYOND
We are currently building Phase 1 of a 56 home CalVet REN project for veterans in Palmdale. Two homes have already been completed with the help of HGTV Extreme Make Over: Home Edition!

We will be featured in Episode #7, premiering March 29th on HGTV!
We are excited about the amazing playground that is built, the foundations that will be poured soon, and the underground
utilities that are getting put in.
In partnership with the Housing Community Investment Department - Los Angeles (HCIDLA) and City Councilman Paul Krekorian's office, we are looking to the future as we embark on the planning stages of our North Hollywood (NoHo) neighborhood, which will have 12 units for low income veterans using the Homes4Families Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® model. Keep an eye out for open applications announcement in the next few months!
Our Services
MY TIME CENTER
Our veteran families have been working hard on becoming self-sufficient at our My Trauma Informed Military Enrichment® center. They are really enjoying our family drumming workshops and the veterans are working on processing their grief and loss in their veteran-to-veteran group sessions.

We just had a wonderful display of our veterans’ artwork at the Newhall Library. We are excited to announce our next display of this show Opening our Minds and Hearts to Veteran Trauma opening at the Palmdale Regional Medical Center very soon!
Our 7th annual holiday party at the Santa Clarita Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® was a huge success thanks in part to the continued support of the Homes4Families Veteran Mentorship Group and to the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 for their continued support in getting the Veteran Community much needed toys for the holidays.
Staff Update
NEW FACES
We are excited to welcome the newest members of our Homes4Families team, Oscar Cruz and Jacque Heston! Oscar is our new Applications Associate, recruiting veteran families to join our Veteran Enriched Neighborhoods®. Jacque is the new Executive Administrator supporting our CEO Donna and the grants department with daily operations.
