Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
October 19, 2020

Dear Roslyn Families,

Please be reminded that our second Districtwide Remote Learning Day is scheduled for next Wednesday, October 28, 2020. This means that with the exception of BOCES and Cultural Arts students, all K-12 students will participate in school from home.

I'm pleased to report that our previous Districtwide Remote Learning Day was incredibly successful and beneficial. We received a plethora of positive feedback from students and faculty, expressing their delight about having the opportunity to be together as a complete class. It also gave teachers a chance to implement new digital platforms and troubleshoot any technical or learning challenges that they encountered.

These Districtwide Remote Learning Day "drills" prepare us for the possibility of an extended school closure. The best defense is a good offense, and these drill days help the district evaluate the functionality and effectiveness of our Full Remote plan. They also familiarize and reinforce practices so that if the district needs to go fully remote, everyone will be comfortable and productive.

Accordingly, the district has scheduled two additional Districtwide Remote Learning Days as follows:
  • Wednesday, November 18, 2020
  • Wednesday, December 16, 2020
Thank you to everyone for doing their part these first two months of school. With your cooperation and support, we can continue to provide the top notch education that all our students deserve.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
Superintendent of Schools
