Notes from the Chair:
A simple message - time to get out and vote, time to get active
I don’t know how you feel, but I sure hate to watch fellow Democrats beating up each other. Makes it hard for me to watch the Presidential debates. I have already decided who I will vote for in November – all the Democrats . Over the next eight months we must all come together to support a progressive agenda and the candidates that will stop the outrageous attacks on the values of our nation. To get Democrats elected in Texas and turning Texas Blue will require a lot of money and a lot of work by all of us. Sitting on the sidelines is not an option. So join the Kendall County Democratic Party and the Boerne Area Democrats and volunteer to do mailings, block walk, phone bank and text your fellow Democrats to get out and vote. Help a Democratic candidate that you admire by donating your time and money.

Here are the turnout results of the Primary so far:
Not very good to say the least. We have one more week of early voting and then election day on March 3.  Please don’t hold back, get to the polls and make your voice heard.

Recent news that the Russians are at it again, trying to frustrate our election process in support of Trump. To be clear, the concern is not a direct threat to our voting systems here in Texas. I have confidence in our ability to accurately reflect the will of the voter. But the Russians will attempt to influence people with misinformation across all spectrums of media. People like Shawn Hannity and Rush Limbaugh will feed on the deceit and spread the lies in support of Trump. How maddening to watch despicable Trump lash out at anyone who dares confront his misguided beliefs with the truth. The cure of course is to elect a Democratic President next fall.
How about you, what are you doing to make 2020 a real year of change?

The KCDP Get Out and Vote Postcard distribution is complete and I am getting calls and emails with questions about where and when to vote and about mail-in ballots. I love to respond and help folks get their vote cast. After early voting ends, we intend to do a phonebank and textbank to reach out to Democrats who haven’t voted to get them to the polls on election day, March 3.
Remember, it is time to make our presence know so when you go vote, in the Primary don’t hesitate to politely announce:

“I’m a Democrat and I want to vote in the Democratic Primary”

Kendall County Democratic Party Chair

The Texas Primaries

It’s time to vote for the Texas primary elections — our chance to make our voices heard in the  process to select our nominees  for the critical 2020 elections. Make your preparations now, so you’ll be ready to go when it’s time to head to the polls.
Last Day to vote in Primary is March 3!

Prepare your choices
Spend a little time researching the candidates so you can vote with confidence. You can use the   Vote411 Personalized Ballot   to enter your address, see all the races on your ballot, and review profiles of candidates in the races, including their answers to questions posed by the League of Women Voters.
For more information, you can study the candidates’ own websites using the links in our   listing of the Kendall County Democratic Primary ballot.
As you decide on your selections, remember to make notes on a paper you can carry into the voting booth with you, as you cannot refer to your mobile device while casting your vote. If you use the   Vote411 Personalized Ballot , you can send the results to yourself and print them, or you can print and complete a sample ballot to take with you when you vote.

You are eligible to vote by mail in Texas if you are:

Elizabeth Warren is coming back to Texas! She will be hosting an event in San Antonio with Secretary Julian Castro on Thursday, February 27 as we build our movement for 2020. We'd love to see you there!

Doors open at 4:30 PM and the event will begin at 6:30 PM . This event is free and open to the public, so feel free to bring your friends and family along too. Tickets aren’t required, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged . Admission will be first come, first served.

So what do we  do  at our County Convention? Convention business includes:
  • Meeting others from your precinct
  • Remarks from the Party Chair
  • Familiarizing everyone with expectations of delegates to the State Convention
  • Selecting Kendall’s eleven delegates to send to the State Convention (potential delegates will “declare” for a specific presidential candidate; our delegation will have representation of all presidential candidates, proportional to what percentage of the Kendall vote that candidate received)
  • Debating and passing any local resolutions that attendees submit for consideration; passed Resolutions are sent to the State Convention
  • I will have more information soon about the best way to go about selecting delegates based on the results of the March 3 primary.

I’m still looking for volunteers for the following:
  • Convention Secretary (easy job; just a fill-in-the-blank form)
  • Chair, Nominations Committee (recommending the delegates we send to the state convention)
  • Hospitality (light snacks, a few decorations)
  • Chair, Resolutions Committee (coordinating any local resolutions we wish to debate, pass, and send to the State Convention)
