GETTING OUT AND ABOUT
JULY 2021
What a difference a year makes! Last July, we were mostly confined to our homes. This year, we’re ready to be out and about. Restaurants are reopening, parks are welcoming visitors again, friends are making plans to get together. This issue of The Local Beet is meant to give you some fresh ideas on ways to enjoy—and celebrate—our glorious return to normalcy!

THE GIVING PIES CAFÉ NOW IN WILLOW GLEN
It’s hard to choose from the sweet and savory artisan pies on display at the newly-opened The Giving Pies café. Apple Almond? Fresh Peach?

Luckily you can choose a mini-pie and try several. Lovingly baked by owner Voahangy Restarinera, whose French heritage inspires her recipes, a portion of the profits support disadvantaged kids in sports programs. Giving never tasted so good! The official grand opening is July 29 at 11:30. Come by for a taste.

Presented by the Homeless Garden Project
The Homeless Garden Project continues their virtual Sustain in Place benefit event series this July 17th, featuring a video cooking demo from globally acclaimed, locally loved, Chef David Kinch.

Tickets to cook along with Chef Kinch from his new cookbook At Home in the Kitchen offer virtual attendees two options: buy your own ingredients or pick up them up at HGP’s organic farm in Santa Cruz (this ticket includes a bottle of New Leaf's Common Vines wine bottled locally by Bargetto!). All proceeds benefit HGP’s transitional employment program for individuals experiencing homelessness. Learn more here.

Subscribers have their magazines, advertisers have their patron copies, the question is: how are you planning to get yours?

For those with a sweet tooth we suggest swinging by Alexander’s Patisserie, in either their Cupertino or Mountain view locations, to get your copy and maybe a box of macarons for the road. Find other locations to pick up your copy here.

There’s also still time to become a subscribing member to get Edible Silicon Valley‘s Summer Refresher delivered to your door. We play favorites!
