The Arc New York remains actively engaged with OPWDD on the topic of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are participating in conference calls three times weekly. Our goal is to provide our collective questions and concerns to OPWDD, as well as provide up-to-date information back to the Chapters. In turn, OPWDD is working directly with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to develop and distribute guidelines on this shifting situation.
Guidelines for Implementation of Quarantine and/or Isolation Measures
The document addresses the topics of staff education, general infection control procedures, environmental cleaning and disinfection, quarantine and isolation guidance for staff and individuals with I/DD, and reporting and notification requirements.
OPWDD will be following Local Health Department procedures regarding quarantine and isolation, as outlined in the NYSDOH document.
We are sharing these documents to Chapter leadership for informational purposes at this time, not for implementation. While these are public documents, distribution could be confusing at this point to Chapter staff, as none of the actions outlined are currently being put into place at our Chapters. We suggest that you reserve these materials for the education of Chapter administrators, and to have available if needed as the situation evolves.
